TCL NxtPaper 60 Ultra 5G listed ahead of official IFA debut

TCL is getting ready to unveil a new smartphone at IFA in Berlin in the next few days, it seems. The device, called NxtPaper 60 Ultra 5G, has now been listed by Amazon Germany ahead of the official announcement. The listing tells us that the device has a 7.2-inch FHD+ NxtPaper screen with 120Hz refresh rate, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a "long lasting battery" that unfortunately isn't detailed any further. In the box you only get a USB-C cable, no charger. The phone runs Android 15, disappointingly since Android 16 was released by Google in June. Amazon is going to offer the...

Motorola Edge 60 Neo, G06, and G06 Power official renders leak

Motorola's Edge 60 family is apparently still missing one member - the Edge 60 Neo. This is seemingly coming soon, as official-looking renders showing it have been leaked today. There are no specs to go with these unfortunately, the only thing that's clear from the images is that its design is fully in line with the rest of the series. Hopefully more details will be outed soon. Motorola Edge 60 Neo leaked renders The oft-rumored Moto G06 has also made an appearance, smiling for the camera in its own set of official-looking renders. Samsung's Exynos 2600 runs Geekbench again with improved scores

Back in July, Samsung's Exynos 2600 chipset was spotted in the Geekbench online database with some less than impressive results - a 2,155 single-core score and a 7,788 multi-core score. Today the chip has run the benchmark again, with much improved scores, and ones that finally live up to its flagship level. This time, it managed a 3,309 single-core score and an 11,256 multi-core score, so Samsung is definitely tweaking things for the better, seeing as how these results are close to Apple's M3 and beat Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite. The Exynos 2600's second benchmark score shows a...

Tecno Pova Slim 5G to debut on September 4

Tecno will launch the Pova Slim 5G on September 4. The upcoming handset is claimed to be the slimmest 5G smartphone in the world with a curved display. Earlier this month, a rumor hinted that Tecno will be bringing the Spark Slim concept phone to India, but under a different name. It appears that the phone will debut as the Tecno Pova Slim 5G, but will otherwise be very similar to the concept. Tecno hasn’t shared any details about the upcoming Pova Slim 5G, but a Flipkart microsite details some of its features. The handset will come with the company’s Ella AI smart assistant with...

iPhone shipments will help the smartphone market grow this year, IDC predicts

The smartphone market will grow 1% in 2025 compared to 2024, IDC now predicts, and this growth will be driven by iPhone shipments, which are expected to be up 3.9% year-on-year (YoY). IDC expects the total number of smartphone shipments to reach 1.24 billion this year. The 1% growth prediction is an improvement from the analyst house's previous forecast of 0.6%, and the difference seems to be more or less entirely down to iPhones being expected to sell better. Healthy replacement demand will push growth into 2026, when the market is predicted to ship 1.2% more units than this year....

Samsung Notes updated with landscape support, other improvements

One UI 8 was a major overhaul of Samsung’s user interface, but the company’s first-party apps are getting their own improvements too - it’s not just the base UI. For example, the Samsung Notes app just got an updated version with two new features and some bug fixes. The two major additions are support for landscape layout and support for sticky notes. The former refers to creating notes with the “page” oriented horizontally, not having the option to use the app in landscape orientation (which was already supported). This will be a great fit for tablets like the newly announced Galaxy...

Xiaomi announces HyperOS 3.0 based on Android 16, beta rollout begins shortly

Xiaomi officially announced HyperOS 3.0 based on Android 16 for its phones and gave a list of devices that are eligible for beta testing. It's important to note that the announcement was for the Chinese market, so some features may vary, and the release dates will likely be different as well. The new HyperOS 3.0 brings a slight visual revamp with new icons, a new status bar and the addition of Super Island. Additionally, 3.0 also offers AI capability improvements and under-the-hood tweaks for enhanced performance. The Super Island feature is much like the Dynamic Island on iOS. It...

Some Nothing Phone (3) in-store demo units were showing fake camera samples

Nothing has landed itself in hot water – due to an oversight, according to company co-founder Akis Evangelidis. Here’s what happened: in-store demo units of the Nothing Phone (3) had pre-loaded sample images with the note “Judge for yourself. Here’s what our community has captured with Phone (3).” One small problem – those images weren’t captured with the Phone (3). And they weren’t taken by community members either for that matter. It was quickly discovered that the images in question come from stock photo marketplace Stills: person by the window, a full glass, rounded headlight, spiral...

LG is pushing Apple to use the iPad Pro's Tandem OLED tech in future iPhones

Apple's newest iPad Pros are using Tandem OLED display panels provided primarily by LG Display, and the Korean company has been trying to convince Apple to take the same tech and put it into future iPhones. It hasn't succeeded thus far, but according to a new report, Apple might incorporate Tandem OLED panels in the 2028 iPhones (so presumably the iPhone 20 family - or will that be XX?). No decision has been made by Apple so far, but of course LG would like the Cupertino company to choose this tech, since that would mean it would either be the sole supplier for displays for the...

Earlier this year, we saw a report which claimed that TSMC is struggling with its 2nm chip yield. According to the new report, TSMC will simultaneously begin mass producing 2nm chips at its Baoshan and Kaohsiung plants in Taiwan, with a combined monthly wafer output of 45,000 to 50,000 units by the end of this year. The figure is expected to double in 2026. Apple, AMD, Qualcomm,...

iPhone 17 Pro reverse wireless charging probably isn't happening

Yesterday a rumor (in Chinese) claimed the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max would get reverse wireless charging support, in a first for any Apple smartphone ever. Don't take out the champagne just yet, though. Google just launched the Pixel 10 family with Qi2 wireless charging with built-in magnets - this is essentially the same tech that Apple uses under the MagSafe brand, since Apple practically open-sourced it a few years back in a bid to get it to be the industry standard, which it now is. So, it's the same thing but under a different name, and yet Google had to leave out...

Google will make Android's Quick Share work with iPhones

Google and Samsung launched the unified Quick Share on Android last year, and now it seems like the search giant is busy making it compatible with iPhones... somehow. A teardown of the latest Google Play Services beta app has revealed this fact, actually confirming an initial report from almost a year ago. Clearly then, it's taking some time, but it's still coming. And when the functionality does arrive, here's a screen you'll see on your Android smartphone when attempting to share something with an iPhone while not being signed into your Google account: So, interestingly, it seems...

The Xiaomi 16 Pro is rumored to drop the quad-curved display

Last week, we heard that the Xiaomi 16 Pro will have a slightly larger 6.8” display (possibly as big as 6.85”), which is up from 6.73” on the Xiaomi 15 Pro. Leakster Smart Pikachu has some good news for those that didn’t love the quad-curved display of the 2024 model – Xiaomi is going with a flat panel this time. Curved sides “hide” the real thickness of bezels, so Xiaomi will reportedly slim down the bezels of the flat display to compensate and make the 15 Pro and 16 Pro look comparable. The new display will have improved eye protection technology that will work at high brightness...

Realme's 10,000+ mAh battery phone also has a built-in cooling fan

Realme is going to unveil a phone with at least 10,000 mAh battery capacity during its "828 Fan Festival" on August 27. The company has already teased this device, and today it's revealed something new. The device will also have a built-in cooling fan - that is, unless the company plans to unveil more than one handset during its 828 Fan Festival, that's also a possibility of course. Unfortunately, no other specs have been shared by the brand, so everything besides the battery capacity and cooling fan's presence remains a mystery. Deals: the Google Pixel 10 series, Watch 4 and Buds 2a are now on pre-order

Google opened a new chapter in the Pixel phone story – the first models with TSMC-made chipsets are up for pre-order. Three of the new models will start shipping next week, the foldable won’t be out until early October. The prices are the same as last year, which is great – even better, Amazon throws in gift cards with pre-orders. The Google Pixel 10 is the first vanilla model to have a telephoto lens. Weekly poll results: the Redmi 15 series is too low end to incite any interest

We live in strange times – prices of old hardware are going up instead of down. This puts affordable devices in a tough spot as hitting their price points becomes quite a challenge. The Redmi 15 series is a good example of that – in last week’s poll we asked you whether you had an interest in any of the three models and the responses are less than positive. The predominant opinion is that these are too low end and that you can get more for your money with other models. Starting with the Redmi 15 5G, this one has the best chance – some would get it for themselves, others would recommend...

The F31 is allegedly powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC, paired with a 7,000 mAh battery with support for 80W wired charging. The F31 Pro keeps the same battery capacity and charging spec, but switches up the chipset to the Dimensity 7300. Oppo A6 5G shows up on TENAA

An unannounced Oppo phone was spotted on TENAA getting its certification under the PLS120 model name. This will most likely be the Oppo A6 5G. Its specs look pretty similar to those of the Reno 14F 5G, but there are some differences. The TENAA document mentions a 6.57-inch AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2372 pixel resolution and 1073.74 million color depth. The chipset is an unnamed octa-core part with a 2.4GHz rated clock speed, so it might not actually be the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 found inside the Reno 14F and Reno 13F. It is paired with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB, 256GB or...
