Sony exec: next-gen Xperias to have bezel-less design

Managing Director of Sony India, Kenichiro Hibi, has stated that Sony is planning to launch next-gen Xperia phones and "you can expect a completely new design from the devices". In other words, OmniBalance that has been employed since 2013 with the Xperia Z may be coming to an end. Hibi knows the direction that the market is heading - 18:9 phones with bezel-less designs. And Sony may join this design trend with a new device "soon". The company has neglected the low-end and even its mid-rangers have premium ambitions. With that in mind, Sony can't afford to keep an old school design when...

KGI: iPhone 8 sales are not weak, people are just waiting for the iPhone X

The slipping shipping dates should have been a clue - the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are selling as well as expected, claim industry analysts at KGI. According to their numbers, the two 8 models saw roughly half the sales during the opening week compared to last year's iPhone 7. But KGI's Ming-Chi Kuo (usually an authoritative source) expects that the iPhone X will match the sales of the 8 and 8 Plus combined. This will bring sale numbers back to where they need to be. Earlier, KGI predicted 50+ million pre-orders for the X, so it's a matter of how fast Apple can make them. Keep in mind that...

One in four iDevices already runs iOS 11

Apple's latest iOS 11 was released on September 19 and over 25% of the iUsers switched in the first week. The numbers came from analytics platform Mixpanel. The adoption rate is slower than iOS 10 last year, which reached 37% in six days. Adoption of iOS 11 stood at 12% 24 hours after its release and it's gaining 2-3% per day throughout the first seven days, eventually reaching 26.57%. Today numbers are actually lower at 23.6% due to numerous complaints about bugs. Apple answered woes with releasing an update we told you about earlier today. It is worth noting that Mixpanel is...

Was the Nokia 6 Arte Black canceled?

Nokia 6, Nokia 6, where Arte thou? Seriously though, what happened to the Arte Black version, which promised 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage in addition to the exclusive piano black finish? We snooped around Nokia's western sites and this model was nowhere to be found. On third party stores, we did spot a few 64GB non-Arte models, but those are gray imports from China. We only found it on the Romanian site, with no obvious way to buy it. We tried various Romanian online stores, but none of them had it (aside from a few more gray imports). So, has the Nokia 6 Arte Black been...

Huawei Mate 10 Pro renders show the bezel-less front, the Leica dual cam on the back

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro leaks are back, with a more revealing photoshoot this time. What seem to be screencaps from a promo video show the front and the back of the upcoming flagship. On the front, you can see the 5.9" EntireView display - free from bezels and with an 18:9 aspect ratio (likely an AMOLED to boot). That's a good look for the Mate series. Huawei Mate 10 Pro: the EntireView display • the Leica dual cam On the back, things look interesting as well. The resolution is a bit low, but you can see three circles: the top two make up the new Leica dual cam (rumored to have...
