BOE demos foldable display with impressively small bend radius

Foldable displays are here and foldable panels in consumer electronics finally look right around the corner. To be perfectly frank, the wait has been excruciatingly long for anybody that boarded the original flexible "hype train" a good few years ago. But, of course, we understand that such major advancements take time to iron out. And we're not just talking about making the tech consumer viable, even at what will likely be exuberant initial price tags. There are plenty of technical and practical aspects to work through. Some, highly complex. While others more apparent from an end-user...

LG Q9 pops up on GeekBench, while a Q9 One gets Bluetooth certification

There has been no shortage of LG Q9 leaks over the past few months and as CES 2019 draws nearer, the Korean giant is clearly expected to unveil its work on the somewhat odd mid-ranger at the event. As for the "odd" bits, the LG Q9 actually has a few of those going for it. First and foremost has to be the dated Snapdragon 821 chipset that is said to power the device. A new benchmark run from an "LGE LM-Q925L" unit on GeekBench pretty much confirms this rather unorthodox chipset choice. However, this has been the subject of speculation before. In fact, by most accounts, the LG Q9 is...

vivo NEX Dual Display Edition in for review

Back in October the ZTE nubia X arrived with two screens, later followed by vivo NEX Dual Display Edition. We were in Shanghai, China, for the unveiling of the new NEX, and we are finally back home to get on with the usual detailed review of the phone. But before heading into the labs, here's what made an impression right out of the box. When you think of a dual-display smartphone, the first thing you ask yourself is "why", but the NEX Dual Display Edition easily answers the question when you power it. Just like the NEX S with the periscope selfie camera, there is a massive Super...

Samsung Galaxy A8s might escape China soon

Samsung's Galaxy A8s got official last month as the company's first smartphone with a punch-hole display - Infinity-O, as it likes to call it. A similar design will also be seen in the Galaxy S10 family, but until then the A8s is unique in Samsung's lineup (although the hole-in-display notch type is really starting to take off across the mobile world). So far the Galaxy A8s has only been available in China, which was its launch market. But that might change soon. A new version of the phone has been certified by both the FCC and the Wi-Fi Alliance. The A8s' model number is SM-G887, and this...

Samsung Galaxy M20 live image leaks showing a close-up of the Infinity-V notch

Samsung's upcoming M series devices, the M10, M20, and M30, are very busy leaking left and right these days, which implies that their official unveiling is not far off. Following its FCC certification yesterday, the Galaxy M20 is revealed again today- this time in the first ever live image of the phone. Well, to be more precise, it's an image of a part of its front, which as you can see gives us a good look at the top display bezel as well as the Infinity-V notch that the M20 will employ. It might be smaller than you imagined it to be, and apparently there will be a breathing LED strip...

Huawei P30 CAD-based renders and 360-degree video show three rear cams, water drop notch

Huawei's upcoming P30 smartphone has received the CAD-based render treatment today. Alongside the renders comes a video showing it from all angles, as usual. The P30 is going to have three rear cameras in a vertical island sitting in the top left of its back, with the LED flash below it. The handset's screen will have a water drop notch housing the front facing camera, and reasonably symmetrical bezels all round - although the chin still seems to be marginally bigger than the forehead and a bit more so than the sides. The P30 will employ a gradient color finish which is really...

Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite battery capacity revealed

The Galaxy S10 lineup rumor mill is spinning wildly and has now delivered a piece of info on the least expensive version of them all - the S10 Lite. The image comes from the Korean certification agency, confirming the battery capacity of the phone. As you can see, the cell is rated at 3,100 mAh and it's on the lower end when it comes to flagships these days, but then again this is the Lite version we are talking about here. Moto Z4 Play images point at UD fingerprint reader and minimalist notch

We are likely months away from the Moto Z4 lineup launch, but some pretty revealing renders just popped up courtesy of @OnLeaks. On the back, we see the pins used to pair the phone with the Moto Mods as well as the iconic circular camera module. However, the fingerprint reader is missing from the side of the handset - pointing to it being integrated in the display. The disassembly process is quite tricky, here's a quick overview (you can find the step-by-step process by following the source link, but it's in Chinese). FCC greenlights Google project for touch-free motion sensor

FCC has approved Google to test a new radar motion sensor technology, Android Authority revealed earlier today. It is called Project Soli and can allow users to operate devices without actually touching anything via radar signals. The technology is quite different from what Samsung introduced back in 2013 with the Galaxy S4 and the gestures over the screen. This is compared to Apple's reported $88.3 billion in revenue for Q1 of 2018. The full letter can be found at the Source link below but here is the key...

LG patents a smart watch with a camera

The consensus ever since the first Samsung Gear was that a smart watch didn't need a built-in camera. We know this because Samsung never put a camera in any other wearable after the first Samsung Gear. To be fair, some kids smart watches have cameras but we're talking about the mass market consumer. Interestingly, this notion could change in the not-so-distant future from LG's point of view. LetsGoDigital reported about a patent that was filed with the USTPO (United States Trademark and Patent Office) by LG for a ‘smart watch and method for controlling same' as the patent is titled. What's...
