Leaked memo reveals OnePlus asked its employees to not respond to any OS-related questions

A few days ago, OnePlus CEO Mr. Pete Lau announced the company's decision to "further integrate" with Oppo to "be more efficient" and bring "faster and more stable software updates" for its users. And even though Mr. Lau said that OnePlus "will continue to operate independently", there are still some unanswered questions, one of them revolving around the use of custom skin on the company's smartphones. Global versions of OnePlus smartphones run OxygenOS, while the Chinese models ran HydrogenOS before it was replaced by Oppo's ColorOS. Thus, OnePlus customers were concerned if OxygenOS will...

vivo Pad trademarked with European IP Office

vivo trademarked several product names last year, one of which was the "vivo Pad" tablet that was expected to arrive in January. However, that didn't happen, and months later, there's still no word from vivo about its first tablet. But it looks the company will soon enter the tablet category since a vivo device, believed to be a tablet, bagged TUV certification earlier this month, and now the vivo Pad name has been trademarked with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). The vivo Pad is trademarked under Class 9, which covers over 20 product categories, including tablet...

Samsung Galaxy F42 5G seems to be a rebranded Galaxy A22 5G

Samsung's Galaxy F42 5G first surfaced last month when it received its Wi-Fi certification, and today it's back again, this time with the Bluetooth certification. This signifies that it's getting closer to launch. The weird thing is that the certification for the Galaxy F42 5G is shared with the one for the recently unveiled Galaxy A22 5G, and this strongly hints at the fact that the F42 5G may be nothing but a rebranded version of the A22 5G. It wouldn't be the first time Samsung did something like this with the F series rebranding products from the A series, in fact it's been pretty much...

Yahoo Mobile shuts down, users must switch to Visible

Yahoo Mobile is an MNVO (mobile network virtual operator) that sold mobile services backed by Verizon’s network. Last month, Verizon announced it would sell its media group, which included AOL and Yahoo website properties and brands. As a result of the sale, the Yahoo Mobile network is being shut down. The network was not particularly a popular one and the device selection was quite slim. A new page on the Yahoo Mobile site explains that “Verizon has decided to separately sell the Yahoo brand and as a result, Yahoo Mobile operations will cease.” Subscribers currently on Yahoo...

The new Huawei MatePad T 10 Kids Edition is designed for very young kids

Huawei introduced the MatePad T 10 Kids Edition, a tablet for young children. Like the MatePad T 10s it is powered by a Kirin 710A chipset, but it has a smaller, lower resolution display – a 9.7” 1,280 x 800 px IPS LCD (156 ppi). It runs Android 10 with EMUI 10.1 (sorry, no HarmonyOS here, no Google services either) and comes with 2 GB of RAM and 16 or 32 GB storage with a microSD expansion slot. This one really is made for very young kids. If the brightly-colored exterior wasn’t enough of a hint, the tablet is covered with an anti-shock case made out of food-grade silicone (in case...

There won't be a Huawei Mate 50 series this year, rumor has it

At this point in the year, Huawei's P50 flagship device family should've already been announced, but the company's very well documented woes stemming from the various bans against it issued by the US government have taken a toll on that launch, which is why it's rumored to have been delayed. It should still happen at some point this year, and that's much more than could be said for the presumptive Mate 50 family. Every year in the second half, Huawei has unveiled the new Mate flagships, complementing the P-series in its roster. But in 2021, that won't happen, according to a new report out...

It's been a while since we've seen a ruggedized smartphone from Motorola, but the company is apparently looking to revive its Defy brand this year, with a device aptly named the Motorola Defy 2021, which has now leaked in full, with specs and images, courtesy of Evan Blass, aka @evleaks. This phone will have IP68 dust and water resistance, withstanding up to 1.5m of water depth for up to 35 minutes. It's also "drop-proof", able to survive falling from up to 1.8m onto steel. Samsung Galaxy M32 unboxing video posted ahead of announcement

The Samsung Galaxy M32 has essentially leaked in full (by Samsung itself, no less) and we even saw pricing details. Even so, the phone doesn’t officially go live until next week – Samsung and Amazon will launch the M32 in India on June 21 at noon. So, one might say that it is too early for unboxing videos, but here we are. There isn’t much to unbox: the phone itself, a 15W charger (EP-TA200) and a USB A-to-C cable. There should be a SIM ejector in there too. This is pretty much what we expected and the same kit that the A32 comes with. Beyond showing the contents of the retail...

Honor may be bringing back a new Magic phone this August, as per tipster @RODENT950. In his tweet he lists only the supposed time of announcement - August - and an old promo image of the Honor Magic 2 from 2018. August 😏 pic.twitter.com/SfIRB67BTV— Teme (特米)😷 (@RODENT950) June 16, 2021 The Honor Magic 2 hid its selfie camera, front-facing sensors and earpiece in a slide-away portion of the phone that tucked under the display. That aside the Magic 2 was a competent phone for its time with a Kirin 980 chipset, three rear cameras and a 6.39-inch AMOLED display. If Honor is indeed...

TicWatch E3 announced with Wear 4100 SoC and reasonable price tag

The Mobvoi TicWatch 3 Pro was announced in December last year with a slew of cool features but it's also fairly bulky and somewhat pricey. Now the company is revealing the Wear OS-powered TicWatch E3 - a toned-down version of the 3 Pro to address both of those. The E3 skips the dual-display functionality, adopts a more compact 1.3" screen and features a smaller 380 mAh cell. As a result, the E3 should feel much easier on the wrist. However, the powerful Qualcomm Wear 4100 SoC paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage remains on board. Sensors for blood oxygen...

Several teams from both companies were joined together to “better streamline our operations and capitalize on additional shared resources”. Now, months later, the positive effects of this move are clear and were deemed important enough to further integrate the two companies. However, Lau claims that the OnePlus brand will...
