Samsung Display teases tri-folding screen and rollable devices

Samsung may have indirectly teased two eventual devices. On Samsung Display’s blog, the company has released two sketches of new devices that could plausibly arrive as a real Samsung device in the coming years. In the first illustration, a device with a tri-folding display reimagines the Galaxy Fold. This new design would eliminate the Fold’s need for an external display, as it could fold down to a third of its unfolded footprint and only use the top section of the screen. The small logo at the bottom of the sketch reads “Samsung OLED”. The next drawing imagines a rollable...

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra leaked case image This sounds even less secure than face unlock, and...

Motorola "Nio" incoming with a 105Hz display, Snapdragon 865 chipset

The Motorola XT2125, code name “Nio”, is currently going through internal testing and it has one odd display – the refresh rate is set at 105Hz. No other phone (or other type of device) that we can think of has that particular refresh rate. A 90Hz display can easily display 30 and 60 fps video, a 120Hz display can neatly handle 24 fps as well. That’s because those frame rates evenly divide the refresh rate. Maybe the display is adaptive, so it can can lower its refresh rate to match the video fps. Why 105Hz, anyway? One possible explanation is that this is a 90Hz panel that has been...

According to the FCC, the gear, provided by the Chinese company, can be used for spying. The agency will meet in two weeks, on December 10, to decide what equipment exactly will be barred from the United States and whether the company will face the same harsh hit as its fellow Chinese company Huawei. ZTE has denied allegations that its 5G equipment poses a risk. Today’s decision comes after an inquiry from the manufacturer to the commission to reconsider listing it as a...

More images of Samsung Galaxy S21 (or S21+) cases surface

Yet more case renders have surfaced, showing off the Galaxy S21 (or S21+) design ahead of schedule. The two non-Ultra models will have flat displays, which makes it easy to design a case with a protective lip that keeps the display away from danger. The displays will measure 6.2” and 6.7”, respectively, both 120Hz OLEDs with 1080p+ resolution. That’s a strange downgrade compared to this year as all three S20 models have 1440p+ displays. Samsung Galaxy S21 (or S21+) case renders There’s a small gap between the case and the controversial camera bump, which looks off – designers...
