Intel accuses Qualcomm of abusing monopoly position

There are three constants in the universe - mass, energy, and Qualcomm being engaged in legal battles. The latest complaint comes from Intel, which claims the San Diego company is charging five times more for its licenses while at the same time is offering lower prices for chips for phone manufacturers. Intel has urged the ITC to investigate Qualcomm, as it feels it hasn't licensed its tech under "fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory" terms and is charging absurdly high rates. Qualcomm on the other side said Intel uses patents in certain LTE modems unlawfully and has demanded...

Asus ZenWatch 2 also getting Android Wear 2.0

It's no secret that Google has experienced significant delays with launching Android Wear 2.0. When Asus promised that the Zenwatch 2 and 3 would get Android Wear 2.0 in early Q2, it took Asus until the beginning of Q3 to finally get the update for the Zentwatch 3, which just came out. Today, the Zenwatch 2 is also getting the update, well, at least the 49mm version. Users on Reddit and Google's product forums have confirmed the update's arrival. There is even a list of instructions on how to force the update if you just can't wait for the update to hit your wearable. It consists...

New Huawei nova 2 plus versions pass through the FCC, should launch outside of China soon

Huawei unveiled the nova 2 and nova 2 plus handsets back in May, but so far these have only been sold in the company's home country of China. That, however, should change soon - at least for the bigger nova 2 plus. That's because the US FCC has recently certified two new versions of this smartphone. While the nova 2 plus sold in China has the model number BAC-AL00, the FCC has given its go-ahead to the BAC-L03 and BAC-L23. These will thus be offered in markets other than China. The BAC-L03 will be a single-SIM version, while the BAC-L23 will come with dual-SIM functionality. As...

Xiaomi Mi 2 and Mi 2S are still used by almost 5 million people

Some people really love to cling to old smartphones - they use each handset for as much as possible, not adhering to the concept that says most replace their devices every couple of years or so. And then there are those who own either the Mi 2 or the Mi 2S from Xiaomi. Possibly breaking all records regarding longevity in the mobile space, these oldies are still used by almost 5 million people. That's definitely a surprising number, but it's as official as it can be, since it comes straight from Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun. On Weibo earlier today, he was wondering what the possible cause for this...

Apple is once again selling Nokia products

Apple is once again directly selling Nokia products through its online store, and they should be available in its physical retail locations soon too. That's not an error - we're obviously not talking about smartphones here, even though more and more Nokia-branded Android handsets are starting to appear. Apple would definitely never offer those, but it is eager to sell you a Nokia connected health device or two. These products, ranging from scales to thermometers to blood pressure monitors, were formerly Withings-branded. Nokia bought Withings last year and has since renamed all of those...

Nokia 8 appears on official website ahead of possible announcement tomorrow

We've already seen the Nokia 8 in not one, but two sets of leaked press renders, and its specs have been outed too. So at this point all that's left for HMD Global to do is make it official already. And that could happen sooner than you may think. Today Nokia's Chinese website put up a promotional image for the yet-unannounced smartphone, as evidenced by the screengrab you can see below. We assume this was a mistake by the webmaster, since HMD still hasn't unveiled the Nokia 8. Yet it's possible that the handset will actually become official tomorrow, if we go by the date shown on...
