New Nokia retro phone may be coming by the end of the month

News came in yesterday that the follow-up to the Nokia 9 PureView, an alleged Nokia 9.2, has been delayed to allow for the use of the newer Snapdragon 865 chipset. Well, it appears that we might be in for a consolation phone release in the meantime in the form of a new Nokia 'original'. This is the 4th year I buy new shoes in anticipation of #CES and #MWC and it looks like this will be the best year yet! Found this stunning pair of limited edition #adidas #originals. This can only mean that we should launch a new #nokia #original @nokiamobile 😉 #ChineseNewYear...

Honor 9X India launch date revealed

Last month, we came across a report which claimed that Honor will launch the 9X in India in January. Well, that report has turned out to be true since Honor has announced it will be bringing the 9X to the Indian market on January 14. However, it's currently unclear whether it will be the Chinese version of the 9X that is coming to India which is powered by the Kirin 810 SoC, or whether it will bring the global variant which is basically the 9X Pro having the Kirin 710F SoC at the helm and a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. Realme X50 5G full specs revealed by TENAA, C3 bags NBTC certification

The Realme X50 5G arriving on January 7 recently bagged TENAA certification, revealing the phone's display size and battery capacity in the process. But now the TENAA listing has been updated to reveal the complete specs sheet. According to TENAA, the X50 5G will sport a 6.57" FHD+ TFT display, meaning no in-screen fingerprint scanner. The listing does mention under-display fingerprint reader, but that's likely a mistake since the official images previously shared by Realme confirmed the phone will come with a side-mounted fingerprint reader. The X50 5G will come with a side-mounted...

Apple can now engrave emoji on your AirPods, on the Pro ones too

Apple's been offering free engraving on the cases of its AirPods and AirPods Pro since they've been around. You could enter some 15-22 symbols, depending on what the string contains - Ws and Ms are pretty wasteful, though going for the seemingly more economical all Is wouldn't get you past 21. Anyway, the point is, you can now have an emoji engraved instead. The list includes a plain old smiley face, the thumb of approval, alien, unicorn, and of course the poop emoji. Whether you'd like to have that last one on your AirPods is entirely up to you, but do consider one of the other...

Samsung Galaxy S20 and Fold 2 to be unveiled on February 11

Back in November last year, we came across a report which claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S20 (previously rumored as S11) will be unveiled on February 11. Well, an official promo video that's leaked online confirms that the S20 will indeed go official on February 11 at an Unpacked event, which will either take place in New York or San Francisco. The clip doesn't explicitly mention what phones Samsung will unveil on February 11, but the video includes the word "Galaxy" with both 'a' replaced by blocks, likely hinting at two launches. The first one, according to XDA's Max Weinbach,...

Xiaomi Mi 10 screen protector leaks showing curved glass, no holes

Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro flagship smartphones together, possibly at Mobile World Congress in February. Earlier this year a full list of purported specs for both models leaked, and today we have an alleged shot of a tempered glass screen protector for the Mi 10. This shows us that the phone's display will be curved, at least on two sides, but possibly even on all four (although the curvature is unsurprisingly much more pronounced to the left and right). The panel seems to have incredibly small bezels all-round, with only the chin sticking out somewhat -...

Xiaomi identifies and fixes privacy issue with its Home Security Camera

Yesterday a weird bug surfaced connected to Xiaomi's Mi Home Security Camera Basic 1080p (yes, that's the full name of the product). Essentially, a user on Reddit was able to see creepy (and grainy) black and white stills that seemed to come from other people's cameras when requesting the feed of his own through Google Assistant on a Nest Hub smart display. Then Google responded quickly by temporarily disabling integrations with Xiaomi's Mi Home service on its smart devices. Now Xiaomi got in touch with Android Police and issued the following statement on the matter: Xiaomi has...

Xiaomi will continue to pre-install Google's Phone and Messages apps on global devices

Starting with (and including) the Mi 9T Pro, all Xiaomi smartphones that launch internationally are shipping with Google's Phone and Messages apps. This change has finally been acknowledged by Xiaomi on its official forums today, and it's definitely been a long time coming. Thus, if you have a Xiaomi handset running a Global or EEA ROM, you no longer have MIUI Dialer and Messaging installed. The Chinese company is giving up on these and using Google's alternatives due to "privacy laws and restrictions around the globe". There won't be a Pixel 4a XL, rumor has it

While the Pixel lineup was initially meant to only include high-end devices, that changed in 2019, when Google released the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, affordable mid-rangers. Not long ago we saw the first leaked renders of the upcoming Pixel 4a, and today a new rumor claims you shouldn't expect a Pixel 4a XL to join it. So if this pans out the Pixel 4a with its 5.81" screen will be the only mid-ranger Google launches this year. Despite the bigger screen compared to its predecessor, the 4a will reportedly be smaller overall, thanks to cut bezels all-round (as the renders have...

Google News discontinues print-replica digital magazines

Google decided to kill something to mark the start of the new year, and this time around it's surprisingly not one of the umpteen messaging services it has launched at various points. No, we're talking about print-replica magazines in Google News. Before you ask, yes, "print-replica magazines" apparently are still a thing. Or rather, they were - because now they're dead, in Google News that is. Samsung releases a trio of promo videos for the Galaxy A51 and A71

Samsung made the Galaxy A51 and A71 official last month in Vietnam, and earlier today it published release details for the duo in Europe. To celebrate their arrival on that continent, the Korean company has also outed a trio of promo videos for the phones. All of these videos are for both the A51 and A71, as Samsung seems to view them as conjoined twins or something like that. Before you buckle up and start watching, we have to warn you, the style of these videos is... for lack of a better word, "unique". You might also call them "loud", in the figurative sense of course. LG G9 renders show a quad camera on the back and a G8X-like design

Early last year there was talk that LG will discontinue the G-series - well, rumors of its death seem largely exaggerated. OnLeaks just revealed a set of CAD-based renders for the LG G9. It appears similar to the G8X, though it has twice as many cameras on the back. LG got up to three cameras last year, this 2020 model has four arranged in a horizontal strip (similar to the V50 and G8). However, the rear-mounted fingerprint reader is gone, the new phone will use an in-display reader.
