Xiaomi won't be entering US smartphone market anytime soon
Xiaomi might have started selling accessories in the US, but those hoping to see the company - which became the world's third largest smartphone manufacturer in Q3 last year - sell its low-cost handsets stateside might have to wait longer. Speaking at a recent ReCode conference, Xiaomi Vice President Hugo Barra said that selling smartphones in the US is part of the long-term plan, but declined to provide any specific date or time-frame. This isn't the first time Barra has spoken about Xiaomi's US plans; he made a similar statement in an interview last month, when he also stressed on the need of having the right customer service in place before entering the world's second biggest smartphone...

OnePlus 2 will be unveiled on July 27 in virtual reality
If you've been getting annoyed by OnePlus' hype campaign for its next smartphone so far, here's some good news. You only have another month of teasers to look forward to. That's because the OnePlus 2 will finally be officially announced on July 27 at 7 PM PT. Yes, today's teaser from OnePlus concerns the date on which its next handset will be fully outed. But wait, there's more. OnePlus is going to do "the world's first product launch in VR" on this occasion. For this purpose, the company has designed its own VR cardboard headset, starting from existing designs but tailoring the experience for the upcoming OnePlus 2. The OnePlus Cardboard headset, pictured below, will also happily accommodate other devices up to 6 inches in size. It's said to be fast and easy to assemble, it's made from durable materials, it's more compact than other such headsets, and it's coated with a special film that repels dirt and oils. The result should be a pretty high-tech product for something (literally) made out of cardboard. As for the OnePlus 2 launch itself, the virtual reality experience will let you "stand" next to the OnePlus team and other fans as the new flagship is unveiled. You'll be able to look around and check the phone out in an entirely new way, and perhaps even find some hidden Easter eggs while you're at it. More details are definitely coming...

The Huawei Ascend P7 is just a year old, but is still a solid offer. It definitely got outshined by the Huawei P8 with its exquisite premium build and stylish exterior, but the P7 is still a charmer, not to mention way more affordable. Now, the handset is getting one step closer to its successor with a shiny new Android Lollipop update and EMUI 3.1 to go along with it. One of our readers has tipped us that the update is almost ready for a major release. As a final, test before going public, Huawei has launched an open beta, with invitations already extended to P7 owners in Italy and Spain. A while ago, we reviewed the Huawei P8, which gave us a first glimpse at Huawei's new and highly-customized Emotion UI shell. If you happen to be eligible for a beta test and get your hands on the EMUI 3.1 ROM for the Ascend P7, we would love to get some feedback on how well Huawei has managed to carry everything over. And for a more in-depth exploration of EMUI 3.1, check out the interface section of our P8 review. Thanks for the tip...

Tmobile iPhone users reporting 'blue screen of death'
Several T-Mobile iPhone owners are experiencing random problems with their device, including freezes, restarts, and even the infamous blue screen of death, according to a MacRumors report. Affected models include the Apple iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 8.1 or 8.3. "Hey guys. So this morning my iPhone 6 (4 months old) started just randomly restarting itself every 20-30 minutes or so," reported a user. "I wasn't even using it most of the time, it was in my pocket at work (could tell because of lock screen that indicated I needed to enter my pin after a restart as opposed to finger ID). At one point I was texting my SO about it, the screen turned blue for maybe 2 seconds and it restarted." While T-Mobile has yet to come out with an official statement on this, a Reddit user who spoke with the magenta carrier's support staff said they are suspecting that it's a memory-related problem. Meanwhile, some users have been able to fix the problem with a hard reset, which is also what T-Mobile is recommending as a first step. But if that doesn't work, the company is instructing users to wipe out their old text messages and perform a factory restore via iTunes. Via ,...

Lenovo Vibe S1 5-incher stops by TENAA
This is one we hadn't heard of in a while, the Lenovo Vibe S1, which was leaked just before MWC, but didn't show up at the company's stand at the event. Well, its time has come apparently, and the smartphone has recently received certification from Chinese telecom regulator TENAA. Lenovo Vibe S1 at TENAA By the looks of it, the Lenovo Vibe S1 is a well rounded midranger. The smartphone comes with a 1.7GHz octa-core processor inside an unnamed chipset (perhaps Snapdragon 615), 2GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage, which is expandable via microSD. Meizu MX5 to feature mCharge fast charging technology
The Meizu MX5 has been drawing a lot of attention recently, with a constant flow of rumors lately. The official unveiling is now right around the corner and we keep hearing more and more interesting speculations about the upcoming flagship. A new rumor talks of a special fast charging technology, dubbed mCharge. It can, supposedly, juice up the phone's battery up to 25% in about 10 minutes and get to 60% in another 30 minutes. And if previous rumors are to be believed, we are talking about an ample 3,150 mAh pack. As far as current fast charging technologies go, this is quite a respectable achievement, although still far from Oppo's VOOC, which can charge the whopping 70% of the Oppo N3's 3,000 mAh battery in just 30 minutes. We managed to verify this score in our recent fast charging shootout and once mCharge comes along, it will definitely be interesting to see how it compares to the existing tech. Other than that, we are already quite familiar with the upcoming Meizu MX5 and what we can expect to see, come June 30. The rumor mill has been overflowing with benchmark leaks, photos and some pretty wild camera hardware speculations. As far as we currently know, the MX5 will pack a 5.5-inch FullHD display, which seems like a downgrade from the QHD unit in the MX4 Pro, but is more than justifiable if the phone costs just around $290, like reports have suggested. Besides, there is already talk of a MX5 Pro in the works to fill that void. The rest of the specs sheet includes a Mediatek MT6795T SoC, also known as the Helio X10. It offers eight Cortex-A53 cores clocked at up to 2.1GHz and a PowerVR G6200 GPU. RAM is set at 3GB and onboard storage is 16GB. Previous 41MP camera rumors have sadly been debunked, but the phone will still feature a nicely sounding 20.7MP primary camera on the back of the handset, which is capable of 2160p video recording. On top of that the 5MP selfie snapper can also shoot 1080p...
