Microsoft Surface Duo to have an 'app group' feature to help with multitasking

The Microsoft Surface Duo was announced all the way back in last Fall with a time frame for release around this year's holiday season. Recent rumors point to Microsoft shooting to beat that deadline by as much as several months and judging by how often we're hearing the Surface Duo mentioned in the past weeks this could indeed be the case. The latest bit of info concerns a software feature of the Surface Duo and it's one to do with making better use of the two displays - that's what the Duo is all about after all. It'll be called something along the lines of 'app groups' (why not 'duet',...

OnePlus has confirmed a few features of its new TV series and today the company revealed the lineup will include three models. OnePlus didn't reveal the screen sizes of these models but earlier this month two TVs with a diagonal of 32" and 43" got certified, and we assume the third one might pack a 55" screen - the same size as the Q1 series. New Google ARCore Depth API lets AR objects hide behind real-world obstacles

A new API is now available for developers to take advantage of for brand-new AR experiences on Android and Unity. First announced late-last year, the new API lets developers blend digital objects in the physical world. This is all done with a single RGB camera - boy, AR sure has come a long way. The way that Google puts it, occlusion is the ability for digital objects to accurately appear behind real world objects. This makes it so that objects accurately hide behind things like walls, tables, couches, or anything that would "obstruct" it relative to the surface that you place the digital...

New iOS 14 feature shows just how many apps are snooping on your clipboard

A new feature in iOS 14 developer beta 1 has some users taken by surprise. The feature alerts the user every time an app access the clipboard for whatever reason, and let's just say there are way too many apps today that are accessing your clipboard for seemingly no reason at all. If you are running iOS 14 developer beta 1 and copy an item to your clipboard then the OS will show a pop-up notification at the top of the screen informing you whenever an app has accessed the data in your clipboard. The video below demonstrates this in action. Make sure you watch it in fullscreen so you see the...

Realme C11 gets benchmarked and unboxed before its official announcement

The Realme C11 (model name RMX2185) ran Geekbench, which gives us an opportunity to learn more about the MediaTek Helio G35 chipset. Also, someone from the Realfans Vietnam Facebook group posted an unboxing of the new gaming-oriented phone. Geekbench reports the motherboard as "oppo6765", which isn't very helpful. However, comparing it to the RMX2027, aka Realme C3 with the Helio G70 chipset, makes it clear that the G35 won't be fastest chip around. JRGRAPH_EXPANDABLE_VERSION = false; GeekBench 4.4 (single-core) Higher is better Realme C3 1812 Realme C11 ...

iOS 14 beta users report seeing 4K option in the YouTube app

Multiple iPhone users running the first developer beta of iOS 14 are reporting that they are now seeing their YouTube video resolution going all the way up to 2160p or 4K. YouTube resolution has been limited to all iOS and iPadOS devices due to a codec compatibility issue. YouTube encodes its videos in two codecs, AVC1 (h.264) or Google's own VP9. However, while VP9 encoded videos are available in all resolutions and frame rate options, AVC1 encoded videos are only available up to 1080p60 resolution. First: MKBHD video, maxed out at 1080p, AVC1Second: 4K60 HDR video, maxed out at...

Samsung Pay Card is in the works in partnership with Curve

Samsung and Curve announced a partnership that will bring the Samsung Pay Card later this year. If you haven't heard of Curve, it's a fintech company that created the Curve Card, which pretends to be a normal Mastercard debit card but is more of an all-in-one solution. You don't keep money in a Curve account, instead you add cards from other banks and decide which card you'd like to spend from each time using an app on your phone. The Curve Card is like a gateway to various bank (and loyalty) cards. The reason this is needed is that it's a shortcut for Samsung - instead of partnering...

Oppo Reno3 Pro 5G (Find X2 Neo) in for review

Oppo has brought its Reno3 Pro 5G smartphone outside China - it hit Western Europe as the Find X2 Neo, while the Eastern part of the company will get it under its original name. Also you shouldn't confuse the phone with the non-5G Reno3 Pro that we already reviewed - this one has an AMOLED screen with curved sides and a single punch hole for the selfie camera. When you take the Midnight Black Reno3 Pro 5G out of the box, it feels nicely thin and light, but in the same time feels sturdy and reliable. Oppo ships the Reno3 Pro 5G with a 30W fast charger in the box - it is the...
