The unreleased Nokia 9 just got an FCC certification

At this point, a Nokia 9 release seems pretty much imminent. HMD Global's upcoming flagship has already been spotted in the wild, encased in a prototype enclosure, as well as on GeekBench, flaunting its Snapdragon 835 chipset and alleged 4GB and 8GB RAM setups. Now, we can add some FCC certification information to the list as well. The documents themselves don't really reveal much useful technical information on the handset. Just some minor details, like NFC and Bluetooth 4.2 support. However, they are important for other reasons. For one, these are official documents that detail...

It's confirmed! Nokia 6, 5, and 3 arriving in India on June 13

When HMD sent out "save the date" invites for a June 13 event in India earlier this month, there was no information on the product/products that will be unveiled or launched. Now, the company has confirmed that the event is all about new "Nokia smartphones". So now there's little doubt that the Nokia 6, 5, and 3 will be officially announced for the Indian market on June 13. While there's no official information on the India pricing of the phones, a new rumor says the Nokia 6 will carry a price tag of INR 15,990 (around $250), while the Nokia 5 and 3 will set you back INR 12,990...

6-inch ZTE Max XL arrives at Sprint for $192

Back in April ZTE launched a new phablet, the Max XL, at both of Sprint's prepaid brands - Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile. It was apparently quite successful over there, and today it's also become available at Sprint itself, online as well as in select physical stores. The ZTE Max XL can be yours for just $192 all-in. That's $62 more than what it goes for at Boost and Virgin, but you can also get it on postpaid plans at Sprint if that's your thing. Next iPhones may not support gigabit LTE speeds

A new report out today says Apple will use both Qualcomm and Intel modems for its trio of upcoming iPhones, reprising the strategy it employed last year for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. And like last year, this means the company will resort to throttling Qualcomm's modems in order to ensure that they perform at the same level as Intel's. While Qualcomm already has a modem that can theoretically reach gigabit LTE speeds (and this is included in the Snapdragon 835 chipset that powers 2017's Android flagships), Intel isn't there yet. It's reportedly working on a modem with similar capabilities,...

And today, ahead of their availability, the company has decided to start an ad campaign highlighting their most important features. Two ads have been outed so far for the new iPad Pro models. Google Pixel XL 2 gets caught in benchmark with bigger screen, Snapdragon 835

The latest prototype smartphone to be put through the paces of GFXBench is Google's upcoming Pixel XL 2, the successor for the original Pixel XL from 2016. This device should launch alongside the Pixel 2 at some point this fall, perhaps with a third model joining them. They've all been rumored to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset, and the aforementioned benchmark run confirms that. GFXBench's info listing also tells us that the next Pixel XL will feature a slightly bigger screen than its predecessor. For some reason, the benchmark's only taken into account the size and...

Huawei Honor 9 specs confirmed by leaked promo: 12MP + 20MP dual camera, Kirin 960 chipset

What sits between the nova 2 and the P10? Soon (June 12, Monday), the answer will be the Huawei Honor 9. A promo that landed on Weibo a bit early confirms the key specs that we've seen in numerous leaks. The star attraction will be the dual camera on the back, 12MP + 20MP, similar to both the nova 2 and P10. We've seen a camera sample, though it was too compressed to discuss quality. Oppo R11 Plus officially unveiled: 6" AMOLED screen, 4,000mAh battery

June 5 was just a preview, now Oppo is unveiling the R11 and R11 Plus in earnest. We already saw the R11, so let's focus on the Plus model now. Not that there's much difference between the two. The Oppo R11 Plus boasts a 6" display - an AMOLED panel with 1080p resolution - and a large 4,000mAh battery (complete with VOOC Flash charging). This dwarfs the 5.5" screen and 3,000mAh (still VOOC-supporting) battery of the regular R11. Beyond this point, things are pretty much identical. Apple rumored to move to microLED displays for its wearables

Industry sources claim that Apple is looking to adopt microLED display technology for its wearables as a move to reduce its reliance on OLED manufacturers (i.e. mostly Samsung but also LG). However, these new displays use classic LEDs, not organic ones. This means they offer higher maximum brightness and much improved...

Huawei Honor 9 camera sample leaks

Days before the official Honor 9 launch, a photo, claiming to be captured with the device, appeared on Weibo. The photo is of the retail box of the Honor 9. Latest schematics show the dimensions of iPhone 8 and 7s Plus

Mass production of the iPhone 7s Plus and iPhone 8 has allegedly started. The claim is backed up with schematics of the two devices that give exact measurements. The multitude of leaks this far should have made the designs of thees phones familiar, we've even seen their molds. Leaked schematics: iPhone 7s Plus • iPhone 8 Here are how the dimensions of the new generation compare to those of the outgoing handsets. The iPhone 7s Plus is virtually the same size as the 7 Plus, growing only a fraction of a millimeter (which we think will go unnoticed). (in mm) iPhone...

India set to overtake the US, become the second largest smartphone market

The Moto Z2 Play made its official debut in India a few hours ago. One slide from the presentation caught our eye in particular. It featured the expectation that India will soon surpass the US as the second biggest smartphone market - a reoccurring theme among industry analysts. However, a pretty specific 127 million figure was also quoted, as the number of units the company believes will be shipped to India this year. We can only assume the OEM did some in-depth research, along with the necessary math, which gives a bit more credibility to the prediction as a whole. India is...

ZTE A2018 spotted in benchmark listing

A mysterious ZTE smartphone was spotted on TENAA's website last month. Listed as ZTE A2018, the phone seemed to be a regional or lower cost version of the Axon 7s. Now, the same device has been spotted on benchmarking website GFXbench. The specs revealed by the listing are broadly inline with what TENAA had revealed. Sadly, there's still no information on exactly which device it is, but given that it has started gathering necessary certifications and has also appeared in benchmarks, we expect to hear more on it sooner than later.
