Wear OS 5.1 could be based on Android 15 and coming soon

If you like to follow software versions, you know Wear OS isn't the most straightforward to keep track of. It has a separate versioning system compared to Android, even though it's based on Android code. And new Wear OS versions generally come out at least a few months after the Android version they're based on gets released. That may be confusing but at least we've consistently seen big new Android versions integrated into big new Wear OS versions. That, however, seems set to change, as apparently there will be a Wear OS 5.1 release, and this one will be based on Android 15, even though...

YouTube Premium subscribers get a sleep timer

Ever find yourself falling asleep to a YouTube video only to wake up hours later with your history filled with auto-playing next video after auto-playing next video? Well, in that case you probably need a sleep timer, and luckily YouTube is now offering just that. But it's limited to YouTube Premium subscribers. And it's an experimental test feature. And, perhaps most annoyingly, the test is only running until September 2. After that, the feature might make it into YouTube per se, shedding its experimental training wheels, or it could disappear forever, there's absolutely no telling at...

Google Pixel 9 series UK prices and promo offers leak

So far we've had leaked pricing for the EU and US, and so today it's time to look at the UK prices for the upcoming Pixel 9 devices. Courtesy of Vodafone, we can do just that, since the operator has published a "Terms and conditions" page for its upcoming Pixel releases. This tells us that the RRP for the Pixel 9 will be £750 with 128GB and £894 with 256GB. Between August 13 and September 3 you can get the latter at the price of the former. We've seen the same thing advertised in France and the US, so it's no surprise - it looks like all Pixel 9s will get the same "double the storage for...

Our Nothing Phone (2a) Plus video review is now out

Nothing launched the Phone (2a) mid-ranger in March, and then, just a few days ago, it introduced the Phone (2a) Plus, a beefed up version of the (2a) with a better chipset, a higher-res selfie camera, and 50W wired charging support vs. 45W. Oh, and, of course, a higher price. It's a rather baffling release, this, if you consider it a successor to the Phone (2a), which it isn't - that model will still be sold alongside it. Otherwise, if you look at this as the top spec Phone (2a) and nothing more, it makes more sense. And if you're interested in it, take a look at our just-released video...

OnePlus Nord 4 teardown reveals very bad reparability

The OnePlus Nord 4 brought back the metal construction of the rear, something that's been missing from the smartphone world for a few years now. That definitely makes it stand out in a sea of devices with glass and plastic backs, but as it turns out it also makes it stand out in a different way - its very poor reparability. That is the conclusion we can draw after watching the teardown video you can see below, which highlights just how hard it is to repair the Nord 4. Because of the metal back, it's very hard to get into the phone. Even going through the glass bit at the top results in...

iPhone 16 display mass production has already started

Apple's iPhone 16 line has already been rumored to arrive on time in September, despite the fact that the Apple Intelligence suite has allegedly been delayed to October. Ahead of the release of the handsets, Samsung and LG have started mass production of the display panels for the upcoming iPhone 16 models. According to sources in Korea, Apple has ordered 80 million panels from Samsung and 43 million from LG. Apple's iPhone 16 shipments this year are apparently estimated to be around 90 million, so it looks like the company has ordered around 30% more panels than that. The supply...

T-Mobile recalls Revvl 7 Pro from all retailers

T-Mobile's line of own-brand Android smartphones added its latest members, the Revvl 7 and Revvl 7 Pro, a few weeks ago. And while the Revvl 7 is still safely on sale at TMo retail outlets and third party partners, the same can't be said for the Revvl 7 Pro. This device has now been recalled by T-Mobile from all of its stores and retail partners. It's not on sale anymore. This is a rather unprecedented move, especially since the carrier hasn't announced a reason for the recall. Instead, all we have to go by is the leaked memo you can see above, through which the magenta carrier is...

Apple Intelligence could cost $20 per month, analysts wildly speculate

Depending on how old you are, you may remember a time not so very long ago when "AI" meant what is today being referred to as "AGI". In the meantime, there's been a wild rebranding and here we are, living in a world where "AI" is large language models. But "AI" is also Apple Intelligence, because the Cupertino company couldn't help hijack the acronym for its own use. And Apple Intelligence has been all the rage ever since its announcement in June. Sure, it's delayed and the first bits and pieces are now only expected to arrive in October, a month after the initially planned release. But...

Galaxy S24 FE support page goes up on Samsung France, launch should be close

Back in April, UK carrier EE listed a “Samsung Galaxy S24 FE” with a model number SM-S721U. Now Samsung France has a support page for an SM-S721B, so the new FE is definitely on the way. Normally, “U” is for the US, while “B” is for European units (including the ones sold in the UK), so the EE listing was probably a mistake. Anyway, we’ve also seen the SM-S721B model number in a Geekbench test, which revealed that the phone uses an Exynos 2400 with 8GB of RAM. This is the same chipset that is found inside European (and other) Galaxy S24 and S24+ units. Last year’s Galaxy S23 FE used...

Realme to unveil 300W wired charging technology soon

The wired charging war has definitely subsided recently, but it hasn't outright stopped. According to a new rumor out of China, Realme is getting ready to introduce its very own 300W wired charging solution for smartphones. We say "its very own" because this won't be the first 300W system shown by a Chinese device maker - in fact, Redmi announced its take on the matter all the way back in February of 2023. When that came around, it was claimed it would fill up a 4,100 mAh battery from zero to full in under five minutes. More than a year has passed since that presentation and there...

Google announces new Assistant voices, Gemini-powered improvements for Google Home

Earlier today, Google announced the successor to the awkwardly named Chromecast with Google TV - the somewhat less awkwardly named Google TV Streamer. Alongside this, the company also unveiled that Google Home is getting Geminified in the near future, because of course it is. Gemini will be used to analyze your Nest's camera feed and, "over time" (whatever that means) it will go from "understanding" a narrow set of specific things like motion, people, and packages, to being able to "more broadly understand what it sees and hears, and then surface what's most important". ...

ASUS ROG Ally X launched in India

ASUS has launched the ROG Ally X in India. This launch comes roughly two months after its international announcement back in June during Computex 2024. The ROG Ally X is an upgraded version of the 2023 ROG Ally, which is a handheld Windows-based gaming PC. The Ally X maintains the same Ryzen Z1 Extreme chip and even the same display as the Ally, so it's not quite a second generation model, but it does bring with it a host of other changes. The biggest change is the new 80Wh battery, which has double the capacity of the original model. The Ally X also features double the storage at...

Samsung's Galaxy AI will reach the Galaxy A55 and A35, report says

Samsung has rolled out its Galaxy AI feature suite to its high-end smartphone lines, and now it's apparently getting ready for the next logical step: bringing Galaxy AI to its mid-rangers. According to a new report today, the Galaxy A55 and A35 will unsurprisingly be the first ones to receive Galaxy AI, as part of their One UI 6.1.1 update. The report doesn't tell us exactly when we should expect this to happen, but provides a vague timeline of "this month or the next". A word of caution, however: not every Galaxy AI feature will be made available on these mid-rangers. And...

Samsung Galaxy M55s passes BIS certification ahead of its launch in India

Last month we found out that Samsung is working on the Galaxy M55s, since it then got certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance. And now, the device has received yet another certification on its path to availability. It's passed through the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), which means it will (rather unsurprisingly) be sold in India as well, among other places. Through a Geekbench run of an M55s prototype we found out that the handset will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, and there will be a version with 8GB of RAM (more could also be offered, of course). The phone will...

OnePlus Ace 5 to bring Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

OnePlus recently launched Ace 3 Pro and reportedly is already looking ahead to the Ace 5 series. According to leakster Digital Chat Station, the new phone will inherit a lot of specs from the previous Ace, including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and 100W wired charging. One major change we expect to see is the arrival of a bigger Silicone-Carbon battery. It will consist of two 3,000 mAh cells, totaling a minimal charge of 6,000 mAh (likely around 6,100 mAh typical). OnePlus 12 OnePlus is skipping the number 4 in the Ace's name because of superstition, so we are jumping straight...

Huawei Freebuds 6i review

Huawei introduced the Freebuds 6i alongside the Watch Fit 3 and the global launch of two Matebook laptops. The TWS earphones promised improved battery life and enhanced noise cancellation, and now that we've spent a few weeks with them we can share out impressions. We had the Freebuds 6i in Black, but they are also available in Purple and White. The case is matte, while the buds are glossy, similar to their predecessor, the Freebuds 5i. New report confirms two foldable Apple devices in 2026

We've been hearing plenty of rumors lately about Apple's upcoming foldable devices. We know that the company is working on a flip-style foldable iPhone and an iPad/MacBook hybrid with an 18.8-inch screen when unfolded. The latest report from analyst Jeff Pu suggests the iPad/MacBook hybrid will be the first to see broad daylight, likely in the second quarter of 2026. The foldable iPhone is due at the end of 2026. It's not too far-fetched to assume it will be announced alongside the iPhone 17 series, but the actual market release will commence toward the end of 2026. Unfortunately,...

Sony PlayStation Portal launched in India

Sony has finally launched the PlayStation Portal in India, about nine months after its launch in the US. Deals: Moto Edge (2024), iPhone 14 and 14 Plus (new and renewed)

The Motorola Edge (2024) came out in late June and pairs a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 with a 144Hz OLED display, a curved 6.6” FHD+ panel. The premium design features an aluminum frame and faux leather on the back. It’s not style over function, though, the phone is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance and supports both 68W wired and 15W wireless charging for the 5,000mAh battery. The chipset isn’t the fastest and 8GB of RAM isn’t huge, but it’s enough to run Motorola’s Ready For desktop environment over USB-C. There is a 50MP camera on the back (1/1.5”, OIS) and a 13MP ultra wide (120°), plus...
