MediaTek reveals True Octa-Core chip solution
MediaTek, the company responsible for the countless number of Quad Core devices in the mid range Indian market, has today revealed its "True" Octa-Core solution by taking a slight jab at Samsung's big.LITTLE based Exynos Octa 5. It has been rumoured for some time that MediaTek is going forward with its plans for a Octa Core solution of its own, but the news has finally reached "not a rumour anymore" status with the company proudly announcing this on its site. This "True" Octa Core solution, as MediaTek claims, utilizes the full potential of all the eight cores for a seemingly better performance and even better battery life management. While the company has stayed mum on releasing the specifics of this upcoming chipset, it does vaguely describe what the advantages will be like, with respect to current Octa-Core solutions. Enhanced multi-tasking capabilities: By allowing tasks to run concurrently with the use of multiple different cores, MediaTek True Octa-Core intelligently allocates processing power to where it is needed, both on a per-application and per-task basis. Advanced web browsing: With the unique ability to allocate individual browser tabs to CPU cores, MediaTek True Octa-Core allows for a faster, more stable web browsing experiences. Smoother user interfaces: With ...Source: http://www.fonearena.com/blog/76638/mediatek-reveals-true-octa-core-chip-solution.html
Time Travel in Shanghai: 20 Mbps LTE On a Train at 300 Kmph
What’s the most exciting aspect of the Maglev train in Shanghai that runs at the speed of 400 Kmph ?! Its ability to travel from the middle of the city to an airport located 30 Kms. apart, in nearly 7 minutes!!? Perhaps, one might not pay attention to the speed of the train if busy downloading data, on this train @ 50 Mbps ! Huawei took a few tech enthusiasts on a ride in the Maglev train, to demonstrate high speed LTE that can provide download speed of up to 50 Mbps. This service is still on trial, in Shanghai. In a demo that I witnessed, Speedtest.net showed a max speed of 20 Mbps data download speed on China Unicom Network, this - while the train ran at a speed 300 Kmph. The speeds began to deteriorate as the airport came closer because the LTE network finishes halfway down the track. Another budget iPhone photo leaks, this time with FCC labels
So far we've been pretty skeptical of the budget iPhone leaks as they bear a very strong resemblance to a certain China-built Android phone. This, however, could be the money shot - the plastic budget iPhone with FCC labels on the back. None of the other leaks we've seen (and there have been plenty) had such labels. The labels could, of course, be faked quite easily (especially in a blurry...

Hipstamatic Oggl and Oggl Pro bring Instagram sharing to Windows Phone
As reported earlier, Hipstamatic went on stage with Nokia at the Lumia 925 launch event and announced that they are bringing their currently iPhone exclusive Hipstamatic Oggl app to Windows Phone 8 devices from Nokia. Popular for its filters and the funky UI, the app remains the only official solution to post directly to instagram. But Hipstamatic does have its own community too and that's called Oggl. The free Oggl app includes five pre-set lenses and films, and the ability to edit and share photos to Oggl, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The app is now available on the Windows Phone Store and you can get it here. The Oggl PRO on the other hand is an exclusive app especially tailored for the Lumia 1020's awesome camera. It has manual exposure, white balance, ISO and shutter speed, and 3x lossless zoom, which is currently usable only in Nokia's own Pro camera app. This app is exclusive to the Lumia 1020 and is not available for other devices, we presume. However, as with any high profile free app these days, there are in-app purchases, but in a subscription model. You can either pay 2.99$ quarterly or 9.99$ yearly to get new lenses and gear ...Source: http://www.fonearena.com/blog/76612/hipstamatic-oggl-and-oggl-pro-bring-instagram-sharing-to-windows-phone.html
