Google Calendar for Android and iOS gets Tasks integration

Google released the standalone Tasks app for Android and iOS back in April 2018, which is also integrated to Calendar on the web. But now Google has integrated Tasks for Calendar's Android and iOS apps as well, allowing you to create and view tasks from a mobile on Calendar. This integration should also eliminate the need to have the standalone Tasks app on your mobile since you can now create new tasks and view existing ones in the Calendar app. To add a new task in Calendar from the mobile apps, simply tap on the create button in the bottom-right corner, tap on 'Task', fill in the...

New iPad shows up on GeekBench, A14 chip has some powerful cores

Apple announced the iPad Air (2020) on September 15, but the tablet is yet to go on sale. What's probably a pre-production unit has made it to GeekBench, showing us the performance of the new A14 Bionic chipset, also to be featured in the upcoming iPhone. The A14's CPU delivers mighty single-core performance - the 1583pts score is around 18% higher than what we have for the A13 in the iPhone 11 Pro. Crucially, it's also way ahead of the preliminary figures we have rumored for next year's Snapdragon 875 (1159pts) and Exynos 1000 (1159pts). Alleged iPad Air (2020) on...

OnePlus 8T pictured in a case listing

The OnePlus 8T is expected to be announced on October 14 and, predictably, the phone's been a regular at the rumor mill in the past weeks. We had a set of renders leaked recently, showing a relocated camera assembly, and now a case maker is giving us another look. After a quick debate, we're calling these photos as opposed to renders - it sure looks like the real thing. The phone is placed inside Case Mate's Soap Bubble case - so judging the exact color is out of the question. But the shots do give us a more detailed view of the camera system. Google drops Daydream VR support with Android 11

Google discontinued the Daydream View VR headset last October and now the Internet search giant has announced it has dropped support for the Daydream VR platform with Android 11, hence, it may not work with devices running Android 11 or later. While the platform will not receive any software updates, Google says some third-party VR apps may still be accessible through the Play Store. Google ending Daydream support is hardly a surprise, though, and we had it coming after Google discontinued the Daydream View headset last year, citing less developer adoption and decreasing usage over...

Galaxy Z Fold 2 subjected to durability test, makes for a cringey watch

Samsung came under plenty of scrutiny last year when it released its first foldable phone with the Galaxy Fold. The initial batch of the folding display was found to be easy to damage, forcing Samsung to rework the foldable's design and delay its official launch. Even after that concerns about durability remained and it's only now that the first gen devices have been used for several months that people are realizing it's not quite as fragile as it appeared. Enter the Galaxy Z Fold2 which brings improvements in nearly every way possible. YouTuber Zack Nelson aka JerryRigEverything did his...

Nvidia pushes RTX 3070 launch back to October 29 to help its partners prepare more cards

The launch of Nvidia’s RTX 3000 series didn’t go smoothly with the 3080 and 3090 cards in short supply. The Nvidia RTX 3070 was supposed to come out on October 15, however this has been pushed back to the 29th. The company explains in a blog post that this is to give its partners more time to ensure there will be enough stock on launch day and avoid further frustration. Soli Radar and Motion Sense will make a comeback despite missing on Pixel 5

The Pixel 4 and 4 XL launched by Google last year came with the Soli Radar that enabled Motion Sense gestures. However, none of this year's Pixels have them, suggesting that the company may have abandoned the project. That's not the case, according to Google's SVP of Hardware Rick Osterloh, who says Soli Radar and Motion Sense will return in the future. In a statement to The Verge, Osterloh said Soli Radar and Motion Sense gestures will be used in the future, and they are missing from the 2020 Pixels because they were too expensive for the phones Google wanted to build. Google expects to sell only 800,000 Pixel 5 units this year

Yesterday Google introduced two new phones, Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G, both falling short of the term “true flagship” with the lack of top-notch chipset, telephoto camera and an UD fingerprint scanner. Apparently, the Mountain View company doesn't expect the phones to be particularly hot with customers as indicated by the conservative orders placed with suppliers - 800,000 Pixel 5 units by the end of the year, as reported by Nikkei Asia. The total production for the 2020 Google lineup across its three members - the Pixel 5, Pixel 4a 5G, and the Pixel 4a - will be 3 million units....
