Marshmallow to hit T-Mobile's LG V10 next week

Everyone seems to be getting Marshmallow these days, and even if the general reaction is "well, about time", it's still great that more phones get to be running on Google's latest OS version. The LG V10 is already a member of that club, but these being regional and carrier-specific matters, the rollout has so far taken place in South Korea and in Turkey, as well as Verizon's units in the US. Apparently, T-Mobile will follow suit next week, wacky product manager Des Smith has disclosed on Twitter. Well, about time. Guess who should start seeing #Android #Marshmallow next week! #LGV10...

LeEco Le 2 clears TENAA - 5.5" FullHD display, 10-core CPU, Android 6.0

The LeEco Le 2 has been certified by Chinese telecom regulator TENAA, and we're being treated to a detailed list of specs as well as the usual mug shots. Photos first, the smartphone looks nothing like the one in a leak we had a month ago. Okay, the front may be similar, but the back is entirely different, and a lot more consistent with the Le Max Pro we saw a couple of months ago. Setting design aside, the LeEco Le 2 (which carries the parent company LeTV branding) comes with a 5.5-inch FullHD display. The chipset inside appears to be the Helio X20 - core count field says 10, and...

Sony Xperia Z2, Z3 and Z3 Compact are getting official Marshmallow

Sony is delivering on its promise dating back to October last year to bring Android Marshmallow to the Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact. After a Beta build was released a month ago, users of the smartphones are starting to receive the official update. The firmware, carrying a build number 23.5.A.0.570, brings the OS version to the latest 6.0.1, and includes the February Android security patch as well as the latest camera app interface. Now, there are the usual caveats, though. For one, only three models are getting the update for now, specifically the D6503 Z2, the...

Meizu Pro 6 rumored to come with a 10-LED flash

Dual-LED smartphone flashes are ubiquitous, and triple-LED ones are also fairly popular. That is, to the extent the Lumia 950 and 950 XL, and also the Lenovo Vibe Shot, are popular. How about 10 LEDs, though. That's how many of those the upcoming Meizu Pro 6 will allegedly have, if the latest rumor turns out to be true. A photo of the future flagship that was officially released the other day (the one below) does indeed show a ring around the laser autofocusing window - a ring, which was obviously going to house the flash, as there isn't one to be found anywhere else. But 10...

62% of current Apple Watch owners plan to upgrade to the next one

Market research specialists at Fluent have conducted a survey among Americans asking them about their thoughts on the Apple Watch a year after release. Some of the numbers have turned out quite intriguing. For starters, 197 of the 2,578 people that took part in the online survey actually own an Apple Watch, that rounds up to 8%. An equal percentage had a different smartwatch, meaning half of smartwatches in the US are indeed Apple Watches. More importantly though, 62% of current owners plan to upgrade to the next model, which no one has seen or heard of yet. Talk about brand...

OnePlus One Marshmallow update now seeding

We reported on the Marshmallow update for the OnePlus One being in final testing the other day, in the words of company co-founder Carl Pei, and he gave a rather vague promise that the rollout will start "very soon". Well, those who read that as "maybe another month left to go" will be pleasantly surprised today. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow is beginning to roll out for the OnePlus One, the company has shared in a post on its own forum. Another leak of the HTC 10 shows the handset in white

There is no doubt that HTC is really excited about the HTC 10 that it has been teasing the device left and right since the beginning of this year. This time, however, a photo was leaked through Chinese micro-blogging network Weibo. Apparently someone who had their hands on a final unit in white, took a picture of it laying atop a greasy laptop keyboard. The unit shown had Chinese software on it but looks just like another Chinese unit that was also leaked earlier last month. What is different about this unit was that it was white. Samsung Galaxy Note 6 will be water and dust resistant, report says

So far, we've heard that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 6 will come with 6GB of RAM, a 5.8-inch touchscreen (presumably keeping the QHD resolution), a 12 MP rear camera, and 64 or 128GB of storage (maybe even 256GB). And now a new piece of the puzzle is reportedly revealed. According to a new report, the Note 6 will be IP68 certified. That means it will be dust tight and just as water resistant as the Galaxy S7 - being able to withstand submerging into up to 1.5m of water for up to 30 minutes. The phone could also sport an iris scanner, as revealed earlier today by an intriguing...

BlackBerry intended to aim the BlackBerry Priv at enterprise customers, or for a more business oriented lifestyle. Apple iPhone SE review: Reminiscence

Apple didn't come up with a new design for the smaller iPhone SE. Instead, they've reused the old iPhone 5s with new internals. It's an odd move, which we witness for the first time - it's like reusing the same looks of a phone model third generation in a row. And that from the company, that practically invented the two-year phone redesign cycle.

Car-sharing service launched by BMW in Seattle

Car-sharing, while still not widely popular, is on the rise. Services like Car2Go or ZipCar have proven that people have a desire for renting a car for shorter amounts of time. Things like free gas and insurance are great perks, especially when renting a car. When renting a car in the traditional sense: one is responsible for gas and insurance in addition to the actual daily renter's fee. Some drivers only want to rent a car for one or two trips. A developer named Kevin Burke submitted a request for the information regarding the iPad deployment and the app that randomizes an arrow to point either left or right for passengers to go through regular security or a faster TSA Pre-check The information was available thanks to the Freedom of Information Act which allows anyone the right to certain aspects of Government information when requested. In any case, it took a while for anyone to reply, and finally, the TSA's...

Want your iPhone SE to look like an iPhone 6? Check out these modders

Some modders at ComputerBild decided that the iPhone SE was stuck in a body much too old to be sold as a new phone. We don't blame them, the iPhone 5 was introduced in fall of 2012 so it's about 3 and a half years old. These modders decided to buy an aftermarket housing for an iPhone 5(S) from AliExpress that you can use to effectively replace the iPhone SE's outdated exterior. The new housing they chose features the iPhone 6(S)'s curvier appearance and it's even outfitted with fake antenna lines. Though, in order to perform this modification, you will have to say "goodbye" to...

Our Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge video review is up

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge stars in our latest video review, and in more than one ways. We shot the entire video of the Galaxy S7 Edge on a Galaxy S7 Edge to show you the depth of field from the insanely wide f/1.7 aperture. But there's more to a good video than simply quality - the Galaxy S7's Pro mode came in quite handy. With it we were able to pinpoint manual focus, shutter speed and ISO and even fine tune the white balance depending on the light in the scene. As for the more detailed, written review - here you go.

Facebook bets big on live video, gives it a new tab in its mobile apps

Facebook is going all-in with live video broadcasts. The social network has announced that it's expanding its live video feature, just a few months after it was made available to everyone. The new stuff will be seen in the Facebook apps for Android and iOS "over the coming weeks", as the rollout completes. First off, you'll see a new tab in the app, in between the one for friend requests and the one housing notifications. This new video tab will let you discover live videos that others are broadcasting. What you'll see here are (obviously) videos from your friends and celebrities you...

HTC 10 camera teaser says it will be "the best ever smartphone for shooting photos and videos"

Even though its next flagship smartphone has basically been leaked dozens of times already, HTC is continuing its teaser campaign for the handset. Soon the number of teasers put out for the HTC 10 will equal the number of leaks and rumors we've seen about it, at this rate. Anyway, the newest HTC 10 teaser is a video once again, and this time around the main focus is the upcoming phone's camera. Is it a coincidence that HTC chose to release this teaser today of all days, mere hours after Huawei took the wraps off its camera-centric flagship duo for 2016? It's impossible to say, but the...

LG G5 gets an awesome 8/10 repairability score from iFixit

LG's new flagship offer is anything, but traditional. regardless of how you view the rather unorthodox design approach of the Korean OEM, it appears to have at least one clear advantage over many of its direct competitors - repairability. According to the good folks over at iFixit, the LG G5 is a breeze to open up and repair, especially compared to most glued and tightly-sealed unibody handsets of late. It is arguably irrelevant whether the phones "modular" design contributes directly to the pleasant repair experience or simply facilitates the continuation of an old LG valued...

Huawei TalkBand 3 brings more styles, better audio

At the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus premiere today, the company also revealed the TalkBand B3 band. Just like on its predecessor, the band is passive and is a holder for the Bluetooth earpiece, which sits on top of it. The earpiece itself is where the major updates are too. For starters, Huawei touts it to be more ergonomic and has a high-grade chipset resulting in better audio performance. The sound volume is up by 25% compared to the B2 and the wind noise cancellation is bumped by 80%. Finally, the glass covering the earpiece is 3D-curved Corning Gorilla Glass (Huawei doesn't specify which...
