Android 7.1.2 breaks fingerprint some Pixel and Nexus devices

Another Android update, another broken feature. Google is not having the best of luck with supporting its newest smartphones: the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL. A new forum thread opened on Google's product forum just ten days ago on April 4. The thread has gained a small number of replies and feedback regarding a feature that's affecting what appears to be small batch of devices. The newest 7.1.2 update has broken the fingerprint scanner sensor and has been affecting Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel, and Pixel XL devices. Someone upgraded the RAM on their Nexus 5X to 4GB

Almost a year ago, we wrote about another successful Nexus hardware upgrade: swapping the internal 32GB storage chip of a Nexus 5 with a 64GB unit. This was one way to circumvent running out of space with no microSD expansion slot. Today, another success story comes from XDA-Developers (where else can you hear about this stuff?) where XDA Member Cathair2906 successfully upgraded his RAM while getting a necessary CPU replacement. A Nexus 5X with 4GB of RAM is born. Here are screenshots of the memory screen in the phone's settings. Cathair2096 was also able to perform an OTA update to the...

HTC is shaving $150 off the price of the U Ultra

Quick question: at $749 unlocked, is the HTC U Ultra overpriced? If you answered "yes", then this might be for you. The Taiwanese company is currently running a spring offer through its official online store for the US, and this lets you purchase the U Ultra for $150 less than usual. So if you're interested in the device you can get it for $599. That's obviously still not cheap, but it is definitely a much better price point for the phablet. You do still have to live with its less-than-stellar battery life, though. Anyway, there's a catch here, because to be able to buy the U Ultra for...

LG unveiled its flagship G6 a month before Samsung in order to get a head start over its competitor.
