Apple could use "Pro" moniker for the iPhone 11

Straight off the bat, you should definitely take this info with a grain of salt for more than a few reasons. The most obvious being Apple's legendary secrecy when it comes to its future releases. And then there is the fact that the original source - leakster CoinX on Twitter has a fairly short track record. Relatively speaking, of course. Then again, the same source did successfully pinpoint the iPhone XS/XR naming last year and also revealed the existence of a 10.5-inch iPad Air. That being the case, if you choose to believe in that particular crystal ball, here is the vague...

Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro to be unveiled on September 19 with Kirin 990 chipset

Now that Samsung's latest Note10 pair is official, it's Huawei's turn to refresh its top-of-the-line Mate family. We already know a fair bit about the Mate 30, as well as its Pro and Lite siblings. Nothing official regarding launch dates and availability yet, though. Well, until now that is. As per High-tech Mail.ru, the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro will be made official in Europe on September 19. Huawei Mate 30 Pro Apparently, the info comes straight from Dr. Wang Chenglu - president of Huawei Consumer Business Software. If that is the case, the credibility is definitely there. As...

LG patents a three-piece, two-display foldable screen phone design with no ports

Foldable display smartphones might have been rushed yet again judging by the rocky lifecycle of both the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X, neither of which is still available for purchase. Even so, the tech is definitely there and it's mostly a matter of time and refinement at this point. And actually few players have been working on foldable displays longer than LG. This might sound a bit surprising, given that the Korean giant still doesn't have any concrete foldable smartphone offer, but it is a fact that as early as 2014 and even 2013 LG was spearheading the foldable revolution....

The latest and probably most high-end, if numbers are anything to go by, addition to the Galaxy A line should be arriving shortly. Now the phone was spotted getting greenlit from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) as well, hinting at an imminent launch. Apple Music dark mode and time-synced lyrics appear on Android before iOS

Apple has updated the Apple Music app for Android with two new features. The app now includes dark mode, which uses a pitch black background for all the screens, a stark contrast from the otherwise all-white UI of the app. The dark mode can be enabled permanently from the settings or can be set to switch on with your phone's battery saver feature. The update also brings with it time-synced lyrics, which scroll automatically in sync with the song. The lyrics screen has been overhauled entirely now and features large text that cover the entire screen. If these features...

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 is the world's first tablet with an HDR10+ certified display

Samsung recently announced the Galaxy Tab S6, its latest Android tablet and a true flagship offering at that, boasting the Snapdragon 855 at the helm, unlike its predecessor which for some reason had to make do with the previous year's top SoC. Samsung felt it necessary to omit a rather important detail about the tablet in its initial press materials, namely the fact that its display is HDR10+ certified. Not only that, but this is the first ever tablet to be graced with that honor, so it's even more outstanding of an achievement - and thus apparently worthy of a separate press release sent...

Alongside the One Pro (also known as One Zoom) that's on the way, the One Action is clearly due to become official very soon, based on how much it's been leaking lately. Now a new report from India says the Motorola One Action's launch event in the subcontinent will take place on August 23. The Quad Bayer filter camera sensors for smartphones are here to stay. After a bunch of devices using 48 MP units have arrived recently, Realme and Redmi will take things up a notch to 64MP very soon, but that's not the end of the line. Samsung's camera division will launch a 108 MP sensor on August 12. Last month, this has been rumored to arrive in phones in 2020, but that timeline may have been revised in the meantime. Our Samsung Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ hands-on video is up

Samsung is changing course with the design of the latest Galaxy Note10 phones that were announced this week. For one, it's "phones" plural this time around with a large and small model. The S Pen is better than ever and the screen on the Galaxy Note10+ is larger than ever. As for the smaller Galaxy Note10, the screen is about the size of the one on the Galaxy S10+ while the phone itself is smaller - about the size of the Galaxy S10. That's a win in terms of screen-to-body ratio, but we need to talk about the resolution, 1080p+. We got to spend some time with both phones and to our eyes,...

Android Q's final Beta 6 release is out and it's going to be the last one before the official version of the OS is released. Most of the changes are under the hood and Google is focusing on helping developers optimize their apps to the new environment. But there's also one thing that users, who are running Android Q just to experience the latest features will appreciate. Google has greatly improved the gesture navigation after taking user feedback into account. The back gesture requires 200dp vertical app exclusion limit for more consistent performance and there's a new setting that...

Realme 5's 64MP camera samples arrive and they look impressive

Yesterday Realme detailed the quad-camera module that's going to be the centerpiece feature of the upcoming Realme 5 smartphone and today the company shared a couple of samples taken with the star of the setup - the 64MP main module. The setup has a 64MP main camera with Tetracell technology (or Quad-bayer in Sony speak) supporting native pixel binning so the pictures would normally come out in 16MP resolution. Yet the two samples we got are in the full 64MP resolution. As can be expected detail at the pixel level is about average, but if you downsample them to 16MP the image is super...

Four-cam Moto One Zoom appears in new images

One of the shooters will be of the 48MP Quad Bayer variety, while the screen will be with a normal notch, unlike the Moto One Vision and the leaked Moto One Action. Moto One Zoom The writing on the back says the 48 MP camera will have 1.6 µm size pixels, but that's actually referring to the size in binned 12MP mode. Two such sensors are widely available...

Google's Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL to sport 90Hz displays, rear camera details leak

Samsung announced a couple of new phones today, but Google is still working hard on its 2019 flagships, to be unveiled in early October (if it sticks to the usual schedule). Many tidbits about the new Pixels have already been outed, but a new rumor today comes to confirm some details and reveal others for the first time. Both phones are said to sport 90Hz AMOLED displays, with the smaller Pixel getting a 5.7" FHD+ unit, while the larger Pixel 4 XL will use a 6.3" QHD+ part. Google will brand these "Smooth Display", because "Fluid AMOLED" was apparently taken. On the back Google's giving...

Samsung made its own Galaxy Note10 hands-on videos because why not

We assume you've already gone through our hands-on review of Samsung's newly announced Galaxy Note10 and Note10+. But what if you want to see even more of these two devices, preferably in video form? Samsung to your rescue then. For some reason the company has decided to publish its own bunch of hands-on videos of the phones, one-upping media outlets left and right. Be advised though that even if they're called hands-on videos, these are more of the promo video variety, with each one focusing on a specific aspect of the new handsets, letting you know them better this way. Also don't expect...

IHS: Samsung gains, Apple slips as smartphone market contracts in Q2

The smartphone market saw shipments decline for the 7th quarter in a row, latest report from IHS Markit claims. Global shipments in Q2 were down to 331.2 million, a decline of 3.6% compared to the same period last year. The Huawei ban went into effect in the middle of the quarter, so the full impact of it is yet to be seen. So far the company seems to be weathering the storm well - it shipped 58.7 million units, essentially even with the numbers from last year. It made up the decline in foreign sales with stronger performance in the domestic market. Samsung was the biggest smartphone...

Huawei Mate 30 Pro spotted in the wild once again

What is it about subways that makes the Huawei Mate 30 Pro come out of hiding? In its second trip to the wild the phone is once again snapped riding the tube and once again in a design-protecting case that hinders our view. What little we can gather from the image below the Mate 30 Pro will retain the notch (just like the earlier leak suggested) and it will likely serve for face identification. Sadly, once again we don't get a look at the rear of the Mate 30 Pro, which is subject to a lot of questions. A recent case maker tried to predict the camera array of the Mate 30 Pro,...

HTC U12+ receives Android 9.0 Pie in Europe

Just over a month ago, the first HTC U12+ units started receiving Android 9.0 Pie. Today, almost a year after the release of Android Pie, European owners are finally getting the latest publicly available version of Android. The changelog, however, isn't very descriptive - it just says it's upgrading the OS to 9.0 Pie and that it brings some system enhancements. Google+ and BlinkFeed are also getting the axe since Google shut its service some time ago. Oh, and the firmware bumps up the U12+ to July security patch. As usual, maybe not all units will receive the OTA update from day one...

vivo S1 hands-on review

Vivo just announced its Y7s smartphone for India with a different name - vivo S1. Way more manageable to be honest. But we are not here to talk about the different aliases of the phone. Instead, we will take a closer look at the device in person and see what's all about. The vivo S1 is a mid-range phone with some 2019 features. An improved MediaTek Helio P65 chipset sits behind the wheel based on the 12nm manufacturing process and it's paired with either 4 or 6GB of RAM depending on the configuration you choose. Internal storage is always 128GB, though, which is pretty generous,...
