iOS 12.2 features hints of upcoming iPad models, new iPod touch

Apple has experimented a fair bit with the iPad line over the years, culminating with the new design and powerful internals on the pair of 2018 Pro models - iPad Pro 12.9 (2018) and iPad Pro 11. However, Apple's official store still carries the older iPad Pro 10.5 (2017) as well as the iPad 9.7 (2018), with a slightly older chipset and a lower price tag. Weirdly still, there is also an iPad Mini 4 still in official sales and circulation, dating all the way back to 2015, with even older internals. Now, as per a few references, discovered by a known iOS tinkerer inside Apple's latest iOS...

Save the date: Google I/O 2019 schedule and venue are official

The scarce, but still exciting details come from Sundar Pichai himself. He recently took to Twitter to drop the May 7 to May 9 time frame, along with a familiar location - Shoreline Amphitheatre. The Mountain View, California spot has been the venue of choice of Google I/O last three years in a row, making it pretty easily deducible info overall. Glad the transmission was received:) See you at Shoreline Amphitheatre May 7-9 for this year's I/O! #io19 pic.twitter.com/CXWpQR4Eza— Sundar Pichai (@sundarpichai) January 25, 2019 What is infinitely harder to work out or simply guess,...

Nokia MWC event teasers showcase a mysterious punch hole selfie phone, along with the Nokia 9

Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer at HMD Global, already made it clear that Nokia will be attending this year's Mobile World Congress. The date is set for February 24 and apparently, the company is also planning a public stream, so anybody interested can tune into. Neat! Although we do kind of wish the announcement came in a more formal or at least less "cringy" format than the "really really" meme Sarvikas posted on Twitter. We really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really ...

More Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 carnage: watch it crush and get crushed by fruit

In case you are not in the loop on Xiaomi's latest escapades, these are very much focused on the recently-released Redmi Note 7 handset. In keeping with tradition, it is an affordable ($150 or so) phone, packing-in quite a bit of value, with specs like a large 6.3-inch LCD, hefty 4,000 mAh battery and a 48MP Quad-bayer main camera. But non of that is why you are here or the reason behind sub-brand CEO Lu Weibing's ongoing ad campaign for the phone. The latter is clearly focused on showcasing the durability of the product. With MWC right around the corner and Nokia's presence at the event already confirmed everybody is understandably looking at HMD Global with high expectations regarding the long-elusive and eagerly-anticipated Nokia 9. Facebook is currently working on integrating its three chat services - Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram. They won't merge, continuing to function as standalone apps, but their owner wants their users to be able to message each other across platforms. In order for this to work a huge amount of reconfiguration needs to be done by "thousands of Facebook employees", according to a report from The New York Times today. Nokia 2 to get Oreo update soon, but there's a catch

HMD's Pie update roadmap had a conspicuous absence - the Nokia 2. Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, got plenty questions about it on Twitter and posted an explanation of what's going on. The Nokia 2 is not getting Pie and while it's due for an Oreo serving, it comes with fine print. Since Oreo requires more resources, it will not run as smoothly as Nougat (the phone's original software). If you answered yes to all of these questions, then you're in luck. Amazon has decided to shave a cool £150 off of the usual price of the 256GB iPhone XS. Hence, you can now get one for just £999, compared to the £1,149 price you'd normally have to pay. The retailer doesn't explicitly mention it, but we strongly suspect this is a limited time offer, especially as Apple's UK website still shows the...

Huawei P10 and Honor 9 receive EMUI 9.0.1 update with January security patches

Today Huawei has started sending out a new software update to the P10, its flagship smartphone from the first half of 2017. Additionally, the Honor 9 is getting the same software, namely EMUI 9.0.1. Currently the rollout is happening only in China, but it's clearly only a matter of time before the new release hits other markets. EMUI 9.0.1 comes with the January 2019 security patches, and it's based on Android 9 Pie like EMUI 9 was before it. EMUI 9 with Android Pie was released in Asia for the P10 and Honor 9 back in December of last year, and it's nice to see Huawei and its sub-brand...

Honor View 20 review

Honor's View lineup is back and significantly better than before. For starters, it's got a much more attractive glass back and metal frame while the front no longer has a notch of any kind. The back of the phone is ultra-shiny and easily one of the best-looking smartphones around. Honor has innovated on pushing the glass back cover into something more and we love what it has come up with.

Huawei P30 to go all-in on OLED, P30 Pro will feature periscope optical zoom camera

Reports from people using engineering samples suggest that the Huawei P30 will feature a redesigned front. For starters, both phones will use OLED displays now, instead of keeping the non-Pro on LCD. This is made necessary by the move to optical in-display fingerprint readers, which also means that the wide notch for the 3D face scanner is going away. Instead, a small teardrop notch (like on the Mate 20) will be used. The P30 is said to have a 6.1" screen (and be similar in size to the P20) while the P30 Pro will go up to 6.5". As for the all-important camera, the Huawei P30 is said...

You can read the full change log for more details. There's a detailed breakdown of the features here. The most interesting addition is support for the 5G MotoMod, which will make this one of the very first 5G-connected phones (we've only seen hotspots and routers so far). It will work on Verizon's network. The mod itself isn't available yet and 5G networks are live in only a few cities. The Moto G6+ also makes the jump to Pie, the...

Samsung Galaxy M20 early review praises the battery life

A self-professed long-time Samsung user and member of the Samsung Community forums was given a Galaxy M20 to review and they did - publicly. Summed up in two words, the conclusion is "battery matters". The Galaxy M20 (and Galaxy M30) will have a 5,000mAh battery. A 45 minute gaming session didn't drain much of the battery and it reportedly charges back up pretty quickly. The phone has a USB-C port on the bottom, though there's no word on what kind (if any) fast charging it will support. The Galaxy M20 will have a 5,000mAh battery The user reports that the 6.3" Infinity V display...

The first three buttons play an introductory video, then one about the cinematic display and one for the in-display fingerprint reader. Next up is the triple camera and the reverse wireless charging.
