There's another way to get the update (if you wanna go down that route): download the package from XDA and install it on your device using LG UP. An official change-log isn't yet available, but going by the same update on other carriers it should include AI features from the V30 ThinQ, as well as the 'ThinQ' branding. It packed solid smartphone performance at a great price, which at the time was a very rare thing. Since the original G the line has been Motorola's best-selling and that's reflected in the number of models and number of refreshed models it gets in a year. Analyst: Apple to stop bundling a Lightning to 3.5 mm adapter with iPhones

Apple didn't kill the 3.5 mm headphone jack, it just moved it to an adapter. Now an analyst at Barclays believes that Cupertino will drive the final nail the coffin this year - the new iPhone models will not come bundled with a Lightning-to-3.5 mm adapters. That's not a new conclusion, in April last year Barclays suggested that this move probably won't happen in 2017 but "potentially" in 2018. The analysts also lowered the yearly revenue guidance for Cirrus Logic by 5%. While the components are unlabeled, the DAC chips are believed to be the work of Cirrus. Inside the...

Oppo launches a sub-brand called Realme, arrives first in India

Huawei introduced Honor as a separate brand that is online-oriented and now Oppo is doing the same. The company is already a key player in the offline market in India, but in order to boost its online presence and sales, it is introducing the brand realme. The first phone from it will appear exclusively on Amazon India and is called realme 1. It's not an entirely new device, though - just a rebranded Oppo A3. The company takes a dab at Xiaomi and lists the Redmi 5A with a "Generic Design" slogan and asking the question "Do all affordable phones look the same?". On the other side we see...

Digitimes: Tablet shipments reach new low in Q1, only 33 million units sold

Global shipments of tablets keep going down, according to a report by Digitimes Research. During the first quarter of 2018, only 33 million units were shipped. This is a 28.2% fall on a quarterly basis and 14.9% YoY. Analysts conclude that there are two main reasons for the massive drop - lack of stimulation from non-Apple manufacturers and clients adjusting inventory. Apple introduced the new iPad 9.7 (2018), but the high price is preventing it from shipping meaningful numbers. Size-wise, tablets launched in 2018 are 9.7" and bigger, while the 7" and 8" devices are declining in...

Nokia in talks to sell its Health Division back to its former owner

Nokia has officially confirmed it's in talks to sell its Health Division to Eric Carreel - French edngineer, entrepreneur and Withings co-founder. Nokia bought Withings in 2016 for €170m and made it the center of its Health Division. But that division isn't doing financially well, which prompted Nokia to reassess its future back in February. That reassessment is done and Nokia can't see its Health Division scaling and improving in the future. It's not yet clear how much Eric Carreel is offering for Nokia's health business (and his former company) and no terms have been agreed upon...

Nokia X6 appears in brief unofficial video

Five days ago we saw live photos of the upcoming Nokia X6 and now there's a (very) short video of the phone. By the looks of it, it was shot in the same venue, most likely a media event preceding the official unveiling (which is set for May 16). The wallpaper on the screen is the invite for the event in Beijing, China. Unfortunately, the framing of the video hides the new 19:9 notched screen (you can see that in the photos from earlier), but it does show off the dual camera on the back. The Nokia X6 is expected to cost $250/€210 when it launches in China. It's meant to be a middle...

LG G7 ThinQ debuts with 6.1" notched screen

LG is finally ready to join the other big-brand players in the 2018 flagship party. The G7 is officially here complete with the company's odd insistence on the awkward "ThinQ" branding. Starting with the G7's face, perhaps its most prominent new feature is the notch. LG decided to buy into the current trend with its fresh new 6.1-inch 19.5:9 3120 x 1440 pixel display. It's an evolution on the Full Vision panel, now surrounded by even thinner bezels. While it relies on LCD technology, rather than OLED, LG's fresh new M+ panel uses an RGBW arrangement, with the extra pixel...
