Deal: 128GB Google Pixel 2 XL down to $900

There's a face we didn't expect to see this Black Friday - the Google Pixel 2 XL. The phone is so hard to find that eBay units usually cost more than the original asking price rather than being offered at a discount. And yet here we have a deal that lets you have the 128GB Pixel 2 XL for $899.99 with sales taxes charged only to those living in Florida, Kentucky, New Jersey and Texas. Even if you do live in one of those four states, however, you will be saving $50 compared to what you'd need to pay if you ordered from the Google Store. Analyst: iPhone X availability improved due to increased production, demand still strong

Apple iPhone X is a hard device to manufacture. It took more than a month longer than the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus to arrive to the shelves and even so initial stock was pretty limited and shipping estimates increased to 5-6 weeks. Yet stock quickly started to improve after the launch and currently waiting times are down to 1-2 weeks. Even the expansion to 14 new markets yesterday didn't do the iPhone X availability any harm, which means one of two things - either Apple has way more units to distribute around now or the demand has sharply declined after the initial hype died...

Samsung has started pushing out a new update to its Gear S2 smartwatch. Arriving as build number XXU2EQJ2 and weighing in at 22MB, it's not a big update, but does bring along some optimizations aimed at increasing the battery life. In addition, the update also includes some security enhancements. Currently, units in Europe (the Netherlands to be specific) are getting the update, although other regions should get it soon as well. As is usually the case with OTA updates, it may take time for the update notification to pop up on your device's screen, so be patient. Via

vivo V7+ review

Vivo and selfie are inseparable and that's been the case for a while. With the V7+ the maker keeps the focus on the selfie photography and offers yet another impressive shooter with bokeh effects. But that won't be enough to beat the V5+ bokeh king. Not even the honor of being chosen as the official smartphone for World Cup 2018 in Russia. But a trending FullView screen might just do it.

Counterclockwise: the fingerprint reader goes back, front, back and side to side

The first phone with a fingerprint reader was the Pantech GI100 from 2004. It had a reader at the center of its D-Pad, one of those early readers that required you to swipe your finger across them. This was a flip phone so the distinction between front and back is a bit iffy, but we're calling this one front-mounted (based on when the phone is flipped open). A few fingerprint readers appeared here and there over the years, but they were extremely rare - most years saw less than 4 phones. It wasn't until 2013 that biometric security became a thing in the public's consciousness. It was...

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018) shows off its Infinity Display in a case

As this year nears its end, we're getting ever closer to the launch of Samsung's Galaxy A (2018) series, comprised of follow-ups to the Galaxy A (2017) devices of course. Today the upcoming Galaxy A5 (2018) has been leaked once again. This time around we get to see it inside a case, in four different color versions. As rumored extensively before, the A (2018) family will sport Infinity Displays, and the A5 is no exception. Oppo F5 review

"Trendy" tends to get thrown around on today's mobile scene quite a lot. It is just one of those loose-fitting adjectives that, through overuse, has practically lost all meaning. Still, looking at the Oppo F5, we can't really think of any better way to describe the company's new "flagship expert".

New leaked image shows the Honor V10 for real

Huawei's online-only sub-brand Honor is getting ready for a big launch event in China on November 28. That's when the Honor V10 is expected to be unveiled. The handset has already been certified by TENAA ahead of its introduction, and earlier today we showed you a weird image claiming to depict it in the wild. If you had your doubts about that picture, you weren't alone. Thankfully though, from another source in China comes what is definitely the first real portrayal of an Honor V10 unit. What's depicted here lines up perfectly with TENAA's pictures, unlike the previously leaked image....

Samsung to show Galaxy S9 and S9+ at CES in January, bigger model gets more RAM and dual camera

Samsung intends to showcase the upcoming Galaxy S9 and S9+ for the first time at CES in January, according to a new rumor allegedly originating from "someone briefed on the company's plans". It's unclear how much information about the devices will be shared on that occasion, however, since Samsung apparently still plans to hold an official unveiling event in March. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ will have the exact same screen sizes as their predecessors, and very similar looks. 2018 will be an iterative year for the Korean company's flagships, so you shouldn't expect a new revolutionary design....

HTC U11+ in for review

Just when we feared they might be on the way out, they are right back in the big fight. Okay, that may be a bit of an overreaction, but make no mistake - HTC has a serious contender in the U11+. The HTC U11+ is everything a 2017 flagship phone should be - it has an 18:9 screen with close to no bezels, a Snapdragon 835 with 6GB of RAM, a Pixel 2/Galaxy Note8-like 12MP camera, water-proofing and a standout design. It also has a standout price and that may prove key to its success. The HTC U11+ will soon start shipping for £699 and while that may sound like a lot, it's much more...

The iPhone SE sequel tipped to launch in Q1 next year

A portion of Apple fans still believe in the company's original stance - a 4" screen is as big as you'll ever need. They are still clinging to the iPhone SE but that will soon turn 2-years old - right on time for an upgrade? Several reports say "yes". The latest claims that the iPhone SE 2 will launch in the first three months of 2018, agreeing with the earlier rumors. The new phone is said to keep the 4" screen (or going up a tick to 4.2") and use an older chipset - the A10 chipset of the iPhone 7 (still an improvement over the A9 in the original SE). Besides the size, people seek out...

OnePlus system app accused of sending data without asking

OnePlus is apparently still collecting some user and system data through a system app called OPBugReportLite. The app is enabled by default when you power on your smartphone and collects battery stats, kernel panics, your device's crashes and sends that compiled information to a server in Singapore every 6 hours. The app was discovered by a Twitter user Elliot Alderson. You can check if the app is present on your OnePlus device by going to Settings - Apps - Show system apps and searching for BugReportLite in the list. By default the app dumps mostly battery stats, which is fine...
