Following recent events, the Honor 20 Pro might turn out to be one of the best value smartphones you won't be able to get, ever. No matter how things unravel in the next few months, we decided to make a review just in case because this is Honor's great alternative to pricey flagships. Of course, it's not the Huawei P30 Pro but it does give the phone a run for its money.

Micron cuts ties with Huawei following US trade ban too

Micron was probably the last company standing following the US trade ban imposed on Huawei, but it's forced to cut ties with the Chinese giant to comply with the US Department of Commerce order, after all. In an official statement, Micron said that as a US-based company with international business, the chip-maker has to suspend its supplies to Huawei. Moreover, Micron sent letters to its partners asking them not to sell directly or indirectly modules containing Micron chips. We are talking SSDs, memory cards, flash storages, etc. Unfortunately for Micron, this will hurt them more...

There won't be a Moto Z4 Force or Moto Z4 Play

Motorola has officially confirmed that the Moto Z4 is the only Moto Z device that will be available this year. That means there won't be a Z4 Play, or a Z4 Force. The former is more surprising, because last year we did get a Moto Z3 Play alongside the Z3, but the latter was pretty much expected, since there was no Z3 Force in 2018 either. The last Force-branded Moto was the Z2 from 2017. After a staggered start, the OnePlus 7 is finally off the marks and available alongside its more expensive sibling, the OnePlus 7 Pro. Huawei P30 and P30 Pro update enables DC dimming

DC dimming is being enabled on the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro via a software update that is currently rolling out in China. This means that Huawei's flagships have joined the growing number of phones with OLED screens that ditched PWM for DC dimming. What's the difference? In short, PWM rapidly turns the pixels on and off to lower the brightness - hence the name "pulse width modulation". This leads to a flicker that some people are sensitive to and causes headaches for them. DC dimming reduces the current sent to each pixel, which reduces its brightness while keeping it on constantly (so,...

The Motorola One Action is powered by a Samsung-made Exynos 9609 chipset, just like the One Vision. This is just a lower clocked version of the 9610 chip - 2.2 + 1.6GHz instead of 2.3 + 1.7GHz. Nokia to launch new phones next Thursday

Yesterday we reported an invitation from Nokia for a launch in New Delhi, India, where the Nokia 1 Plus and Nokia 9 PureView are expected to debut in the local market. Now, according to sources, another event is taking place at the same time in Italy, suggesting we might see completely new devices on the global scene like the Nokia X71 or another affordable handset. So far, we've only heard about a Snapdragon 429-powered phone, but this time last year HMD Global announced the Nokia 5.1, Nokia 3.1, and Nokia 2.1 in Moscow, Russia, so we might be getting their successors in seven days....

Oppo Reno Z debuts with waterdrop notch, Helio P90

Without much publicity, Oppo has officially unveiled the fourth member of the Reno line - the Reno Z. The phone is listed for reservations on Oppo's own site as well as popular online retailer JD.com. The Reno Z features a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution and a waterdrop notch at the top for the 32MP selfie cam. The display supports HDR 10 and features a built-in fingerprint scanner. Huawei reinstated in the SD Association

In light of recent development with the USA - Huawei trade ban, the Chinese company's name got removed from the SD Association's website a few days ago and today we can see Huawei being reinstated. A Huawei representative confirmed that Huawei is back on the SD Association or as he said - its membership was never cancelled in the first place. It was just temporarily modified to ensure it complies with the US Department of Commerce order. That doesn't mean it's the end of Huawei's troubles, though. The company still needs to settle with the US government or it will be unable to regain...

Samsung Galaxy A10e visits Geekbench with Exynos chipset, 2GB of RAM

Samsung has gone all in with the suffix "e" this year. The Galaxy S10e is the most affordable S10, the Galaxy A20e is a cheaper version of the A20, you get the idea. The Korean company has also been working on a Galaxy A10e, which has already been certified by both the Wi-Fi Alliance and the FCC. This indicates the fact that the phone, with the model number SM-A102U, could be launching very soon. To test things thoroughly before that release, someone in possession of a prototype saw fit to run Geekbench on it, and thus the results are now part of the benchmark's online database. This...

This is what the Samsung Galaxy Note10 will look like

Yesterday a schematic of the Galaxy Note10's rear camera arrangement leaked, and we showed you a render approximating what that would look like on the back of the upcoming device. What about the front, though? Since the Galaxy S10+ comes with two sensors in the punch-hole screen cutout, you'd expect the Note10 to have at least that number of cameras tucked in there, but apparently you'd be wrong. Both the Note10 and the Note10 Pro (yes, we're getting two models this year, four if you count the 5G-enabled offshoots) will only employ one front-facing camera. This information comes from...

Redmi K20 Pro will have a version with 12GB of RAM, TENAA listing reveals

Xiaomi's sub-brand unveiled its first ever flagship smartphone, the Redmi K20 Pro, just a couple of days ago, and now it looks like it's going to get even more high-end in the future. Suspend your disbelief for a moment, this is actually possible. See, the official announcement had the K20 Pro topping out at 8GB of RAM, but there is a version with a whopping 12GB of memory coming. This has been revealed today by the official listing of the handset on TENAA, the Chinese regulatory authority that needs to certify every device before it goes on sale in the country. The listing clearly...

Samsung Galaxy M40 press render leaks ahead of June 11 launch

Samsung will officially launch the Galaxy M40 on June 11 in India, where it's partnered with Amazon. Yesterday a teaser from the retailer was posted, drumming up the excitement for the new smartphone. Today the press render you can see below has been leaked. It shows the Infinity-O screen, with the punch-hole selfie camera, a first for Samsung's M-series (the other members of the family all sport notches). The phone is expected to sport the Snapdragon 675 SoC, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It will run Android 9 Pie. On the back we can see a triple camera setup, an LED...

Apple granted patent for foldable device, here's what it could look like

Apple has filed a patent application for a foldable device, which folds inwards much like the Samsung Galaxy Fold. In Apple's patent the device has a display layer and a protective cover layer on top that are designed to fold or bend along a specific bendable region (like the hinge on the Fold). The protective layer (which will be on top of the display layer) will reportedly be made of a ceramic material like glass, sapphire or zirconia. The figure below shows a folding device with the display on the inside, folding in on itself (figures 1A and 1B). It's unclear what we see in figure...
