Today's turning into a Geekbench shootout and the Meizu Niux appears to be superior to the Samsung Project Lucky. Or as they are otherwise known, the Meizu PRO 5, due to launch on September 25, and a possible Galaxy S7, which is likely still a good 6 months away. The Meizu PRO 5 will supposedly come in two versions with different chipsets, and the one just spotted on GeekBench is the Exynos 7420 variant. Interestingly enough, it scores close to the 5600 mark in the multi-core test, while Samsung's own Galaxy S6/S6 edge are in the 5200 ballpark, and the the Note5/S6 edge+ a smidgen behind. So not only does the Pro 5 outperform Samsung's upcoming Exynos 8890 (admittedly early in its development), but also posts higher numbers than the current Korean flagships with silicon identical to theirs. It's a very flawed comparison though, so you can't really draw any meaningful conclusions. The Niux may very well be a pre-production unit, the Lucky has been spotted in a different configuration, and the rest of the 7420 crew are final, commercially available devices. So we'll be patiently waiting for a Meizu PRO 5 to come our way for review, before we crown it the next performance king. Source |...
