Apple A8X chip photos leaks ahead of iPad Air 2 announcement

The Apple iPad Air 2 is having its announcement this Thursday and rumors have it that the slate is powered by an Apple A8X chip. Today, new purported photos of the SoC have emerged giving more credibility to this rumor. In addition to the full logic board, photos of other parts such as the glass screen cover, audio control components and the Home button with TouchID have also been snapped. The A8X variant of Apple's chip, just like the A5X and A6X before it, is expected to have better GPU performance. This is also an indication that Apple could be bumping the display resolution of the upcoming iPad Air 2 to the so called Retina HD. Evidence of this has been discovered in the latest iOS 8.1 Beta, which indicated user interface elements designated as "3x-ipad". While specifics of the resolution in questions aren't known yet, it is definitely a possibility that Apple is going to ship a sharper display than the current 2048 x 1536 pixel panel. However, more GPU horsewpoer isn't the only thing the A8X chip is expected to bring to the table. Allegedly, the RAM is also increased go 2GB, which should enable heavier multitasking. The rest of the novelties iPad users should expect are TouchID, thinner profile at 7.5mm, 720p FaceTime camera and Apple Pay. nternal storage options are said to be 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. HTC One (E8 Eye) leaks via import documents

HTC unveiled the first member of its new Eye family this week, but it was very quickly to add a second with the One (M8 Eye) joining the Desire Eye. Now we learn that a third Eye smartphone is on the way as import documents from India have listed it. Several hundred units of the yet unofficial HTC One (E8 Eye) have entered India. They come in two different colors - Silver and Gray. The price listed is INR 27,275 (about $445), so a reasonable guess is the final retail price will be along the lines of the original HTC One (E8), which goes for INR32,000 ($520) in the subcontinent. What we don't really know is how the Eye version of the One (E8) will differ from the original device. It's certain that it will be running the new Eye Experience selfie-enhancing software out of the box, but that will be seeded to the other One E8 units eventually. The One (M8) gave up on its UltraPixel camera in favor of a conventional 13MP snapper, but the E8 already has that. All the listing gives us is that NFC will be dropped, but we'll have to wait for an official announcement by HTC to know for sure. Here's hoping that it won't take too long. Source |...

DROID Turbo briefly appears on Verizon's Twitter account

It's been a while since we saw a new DROID from Motorola and Verizon. Well, there is one coming soon, and it is the new DROID Turbo. We have seen some of the specs and other details in a leak before, but here is the back of the phone in that neat Verizon red finish. The image was posted on Verizon's @DroidLanding Twitter account for a while before being pulled down, so it's fairly legit. From the back you can see the supposed 21 megapixel camera with the dual LED flash. The phone is also supposed to have a massive 3,900mAh but it's hard to tell that from the image. In comparison, the phone looked fairly chunky in one of the previous leaks we saw. No word yet on when this phone will be...
