Lenovo Sisley shows what the iPhone 6 should have looked like

Lenovo is working on a new Android smartphone called Sisley, which has just had its photos leaked. The company seems to have been heavily inspired by Apple when designing the Sisley, as it resembles the iPhone 6 as close as phone we've seen. According to the source of the photos, the phone is just 6.9mm thick. Coincidentally, that's the same waistline as the iPhone 6. However, whereas Apple has chosen to place plastic inlays all over the back of the phone in order for the antennas to work, Lenovo has altered the design a bit and moved most of them to the top. It looks notably better that way, too - having a straight line go along a sloping edge always makes it look awkward. Not to mention the non-protruding rear camera. In terms of specifications, not much is known for the Sisley as of now. The display is reported to be 5" with 720p resolution. At the back, there's a 13MP camera with LED flash, while at the front sits an 8MP snapper. Processor, RAM and battery are unknown at this point, but we expect the chipset to be made by MediaTek. We don't know if the phone is going to be available outside Lenovo's home market China. It's going to be quite interesting to see how Apple reacts to the existence of the Lenovo Sisley. It has certainly gone a lot more aggressive for less in the past. Source |...

Android L running on Moto G demoed on video

Recent Motorola phones have a near-Nexus status when it comes to software updates, even the mid-range Moto G. A developer got Android L running and recorded a six minute video demo of Google's latest iteration of its mobile OS. The biggest change here since Ice Cream Sandwich (or rather since Honeycomb, really) is the new UI design language dubbed Material Design. You can see the Material versions of the dialer, Hangouts, Gmail, the calendar and a few other apps. The notification are has changed too. After watching the new boot animation you may want to jump to the 2 minute mark as it takes a while for Android to complete its usual initial boot process. There's a lull in the middle of the video but don't miss the new lockscreen, which starts at 5:40. The video is in Spanish (it was shot by a Mexican developer) and the video quality is poor but it's pretty clear that Android L (unencumbered by custom skins) is flying on the Snapdragon 400 chipset, even in such an early development phase. Thanks to lovehater for sending this...

More photos of Meizu MX4 Pro with YunOS surface

A few hours ago a photo of the Meizu MX4 Pro leaked and now it has been followed by a few more. Interestingly one of the photos shows the YunOS boot screen and not Flyme. Both are custom versions of Android but while Flyme is developed in-house Meizu, YunOS 3.0 (aka AliyunOS) is developed by etail giant Alibaba. Despite the Pro moniker, the MX4 Pro has almost exactly the same specs as its official twin, it's not even bigger. It has a 5.36" screen with 2,560 x 1,536 pixel resolution (a hair above QHD) and a 20.7MP Sony camera. The main difference besides the OS is the chipset - an Exynos 5430 by Samsung, replacing the MediaTek chipset. Meizu MX4 Pro • comparison with the Meizu MX4 • invitation for YunOS 3.0 event The MediaTek chipset is more powerful on paper - it has four Cortex-A17 cores at 2.2GHz and four Cortex-A7 cores at 1.7GHz, while the Exynos 5430 has four Cortex-A15 cores at 1.8GHz and four Cortex-A7 cores at 1.3GHz. Both MX4s will have 3GB RAM according to the latest rumors (despite what we heard earlier). Note that earlier on a dual-SIM Meizu MX4 Mini leaked and it was showing YunOS as well, but was powered by a MediaTek chipset (a lower-end version though). There was even an MX4 running Ubuntu Touch. There's a YunOS 3.0 event scheduled for October 20 (which itself is not official yet) so we might see a joint announcement of the new OS and flagship device to go with it. Samsung Galaxy Note 4 receives battery-improving update

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is about to make its international debut and already the company is issuing the first software update for the device. The firmware number of the latest update is XXU1ANJ4 and at 36MB it is quite small. That's because it's quite specific and aims at improving battery performance as well as overall stability. In our Galaxy Note 4 review we found out that the phone's battery does excellently with an endurance rating of 87 hours. With the latest update though, you should expect the Galaxy Note 4 to do even better than that. Samsung is already distributing the update to all Galaxy Note 4 units and expect it to become instantly available as soon as the phone launches in its respective markets. In the UK, Samsung recently announced the phone will be delayed until October 17 and it will cost £575 off-contract. If you already sport a Galaxy Note 4, then head to the Settings > About Phone > Software update menu and get the latest firmware version for the...

Oppo N3 back panel revealed in an official teaser photo

With the Oppo N3 launch event on October 29 fast approaching, the company is revealing more about what the phone will look like in teaser photos. The latest one, posted on Weibo, shows the phone's back and it does so in detail. Just like we anticipated, the rotating camera module is still in place but this time seems a lot more stylish. Oppo has given it a faux-leather finish and a single piece of metal in the middle surrounding the camera module and dual LED flash. The photo confirms the looks of the phone are similar to the three color versions leaked later last week. Oppo will launch the phone in pink, white and cyan and it come in either stainless steel or an aluminum-lithium alloy body. The rest of the Oppo N3 specifications should include a 5.9" 1080p display and will run on the latest Snapdragon 805 chipset with 3GB of RAM. Just like with the original Oppo N1 the camera will be capable of 206-degree rotation and will feature a 13MP sensor with dual-LED flash. We also suspect that Oppo will release two versions of the N3 as the first press shots of the phone we received clearly show a different design. October 29 is just a bit over two weeks away, so we'll have to be patient until then. Source |...
