LG G2 starts getting Lollipop update in India

Back in March this year, LG confirmed that the Android Lollipop update for the G2 will arrive in India in Q2, and now it looks like the update has started hitting the device. The update - which weighs in at around 750MB and carries a build number of LRX22G - brings Android 5.0.2 to the handset, which was released back in September 2013 and currently runs KitKat. What's worth mentioning here is that the update is only available via LG PC...

Check out the new phones of Week 24

Don't let the small number of newly announced phones this week fool you. Few as they may be, the new releases have a lot to grab your attention. Perhaps the most interesting among this week's launches is the Gionee Elife E8. The Chinese company's latest and greatest is a true flagship with a 6-inch QHD screen and a Mediatek Helio X10 inside. But it's the camera that gets the headlines with a 24MP sensor, optical image stabilization, and phase detection autofocus. If that's not enough to keep you interested, the 120MP mode might do it. It's just that it may come a bit pricey at CNY 3,999 ($675) but we'll let the market decide. Gionee's Marathon M5 costs a bit more than half that and comes with a 5.5-inch display and midrange specs. But wait, there's more. It has a couple of batteries for a total of 6,020mAh, fast parallel charging and software power optimizations, resulting in a 4-day battery life, at least by Gionee's claims. If you liked the Galaxy S6 but it wasn't tough enough for your outdoor lifestyle, you now have the Galaxy S6 active to bring with you while kayaking. Yes, it does have IP68 and MIL-STD-810G certifications for protection against the elements, but it's not all. To sweeten the deal, Samsung has fitted the Galaxy S6 active with a 3,500mAh battery, close to 1,000mAh more than the regular S6. Meanwhile, Oppo has announced the Neo 5 (2015), an affordable 4.5-inch phone without much bells and whistles. It has all the basic stuff covered, with a quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and an 8MP/2MP camera duo. The Neo 5 (2015) does borrow a touch of premium from more expensive company models though, but only in terms of design. .news-item .n-left { float: left; width: 26%; text-align: center; } .news-item .n-right { float: left; width: 74%; } .news-item a { padding-bottom: 0; padding-left: 0; } .news-item .n-right h2, .reviews-item .n-right h2 { clear: both; padding: 0 0 3px 0px; font: 400 19px Oswald, Arial; margin-top: -4px; } .n-right p { margin-top: 25px; line-height: 155%; } .news-item { padding-top: 20px; padding-bottom: 10px; border-top: 1px solid #ccc; } .news-item p { margin-left: 0; } .n-right h2 .phone-name { display: inline-block; width: 252px; overflow: hidden; vertical-align: text-bottom; } .n-right h2 a { text-decoration: none; color: #000; } .flat-button{ text-align:center; text-decoration: none !important; font: 400 22px Oswald,Arial !important; //font-family: sans-serif; -webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased; font-size: 150%; //background: #0CADA7; padding: 20px 60px !important; display: inline-block; white-space: nowrap; -webkit-border-radius: 5px; -moz-border-radius: 5px; border-radius: 5px; margin: 10px 0; -webkit-transition: all 0.2s ease-in-out; -ms-transition: all 0.2s ease-in-out; -moz-transition: all 0.2s ease-in-out; -o-transition: all 0.2s ease-in-out; transition: all 0.2s ease-in-out; color: #fff !important; } .flat-button-1 { background: #0CADA7; } .flat-button-1:hover { background: #0A948F; color: #666666 !important; } .flat-button-2 { background: #FF7E47; } .flat-button-2:hover { background: #EE7440; color: #666666 !important; } .n-right .rank-info { display: inline-block; font-family: "Oswald",Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 18px; font-weight: 100; } .n-right .rank-info .current-rank { font-size: 23px; } .circle { background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #8fb28f; border-radius: 50%; height: 23px; width: 23px; display: inline-block; margin: 0px 10px -1px 10px; } .arrow { width: 0; height: 0; border-style: solid; display: inline-block; margin: 0px 10px -1px 10px; } .arrow-up { border-width: 0 15px 25px 15px; border-color: transparent transparent #0cada7 transparent; } .arrow-down { border-width: 25px 15px 0 15px; border-color: #ff7e47 transparent transparent transparent; } Gionee Elife E8 specs Gionee Marathon M5 specs Samsung Galaxy S6 active specs gallery Oppo Neo 5 (2015) specs...

The Top 10 trending phones of week 24

We knew it was a matter of time, and it has finally happened. The Samsung Galaxy S6 has met its match in popularity and has surrendered the crown, after being on top for 14 straight weeks. The Top 10 trending phones chart is a recap list of the devices that gathered the most hits throughout the week. In other words, the chart represents the interests of the majority of you, our visitors. This weeks' chart is packed with Samsung phones, even more so than usual. We have the Galaxy Core Prime in tenth spot, keeping the Xiaomi Mi 4i out by just a few hundred hits. The high-end Galaxy Note 4 phablet is a notch higher than last week and is now in ninth. The Galaxy S4 comes and goes, and we find it in eighth position this week, with the Galaxy E7 a spot ahead. The Galaxy A5 and S5 are in the habit of trading places on the chart and are now in sixth and fifth respectively, while the iPhone 6 is in fourth after the HTC One ME quickly vacated that spot. The Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML holds on to the third position, where it has settled for a couple of weeks. Our long time champion Galaxy S6 has stepped down and is now in second, leaving the title to another Samsung smartphone. All that build up leads us to this week's number one - the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime. Quietly residing in second and third for weeks on end, the affordable 5-incher has finally managed that extra mile and gotten its 15 minutes of fame. We're looking forward to next week to see if it has what it takes to defend the title.
