Weekly poll: Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ or Apple iPhone 6s Plus battle it out for fan love

No toying around with this duo. We are now in the big leagues, the phablet finals, if you will. This week we pit the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Apple iPhone 6s Plus against each other in an explosive battle for your affection. Judging from experience, we do know the whopping "flame-war" this week's poll could unleash, but before you head on over to the comment section to declare your allegiance, we urge you to be good sportsmen and make this a clean and unbiased fight. There is no doubt about it - the iPhone 6s Plus is Apple's new crown jewel. With all the bells and whistles like 3D touch on a spacious screen and an OIS-enabled camera, it is the best Cupertino currently has to offer. The same can also be said about the Galaxy S6 edge+ - its cutting edge Exynos chip and 4GB of RAM max-out what the Korean giant currently has to offer, but so does the Galaxy Note5. However, considering the latter's still limited international availability and productivity S-Pen features, we do believe the S6 edge+ is a more direct counterpart to the iPhone. If you want to know more about the opponents, you should check out our shoot-out between the pair, complete with all the facts and data you can need for an educated decision....

Week 42 in review: OnePlus phones, HTC One A9

OnePlus seems to be one everybody's minds lately - a trend reflected in our news section. The Chinese OEM has a solid reputation for sparking waves of fan enthusiasm and the latest news of an upcoming small OnePlus handset is definitely no exception. Throughout the week, we caught at least a few glimpses of the OnePlus Mini (or perhaps OnePlus X) including specs and a preliminary price tag. By all accounts, the phone should be unveiled on October 29. Samsung also made headlines, but didn't really have its usual news presence. Still, rumors of the Galaxy S7 are already starting to emerge and sources suggest 3D Touch-like features on board. Also, the 5-inch Z3 is here and is officially the most-powerful Tizen powered handset on the market. The upcoming HTC One A9 is causing quite a stir. It has already been spotted in a few leaked images and although we are not quite sure about its hardware yet, it should be arriving shortly, most likely on October 20. Speaking of the iPhone, market analysts suggest that it might not be doing quite as well in sales as originally anticipated. But the debate is still going and will likely do so until Q4 financial reports become available, but it the mean time Apple has a substantial patent infringement law suit to worry about. It other news, Xiaomi will be holding an event on October 19, but despite all the fan enthusiasm, the eagerly-anticipated Xiaomi Mi 5 probably won't attend the venue. If you think you might have missed something interesting from the past week, here is a rundown of the top stories. .news-item .n-left { float: left; width: 28%; text-align: center; } .news-item .n-right { float: left; width: 70%; } .news-item a { padding-bottom: 0; padding-left: 0; } .news-item .n-right h2, .reviews-item .n-right h2 { clear: both; padding: 0 0 3px 0px !important; font: 400 19px Google-Oswald, Arial; margin-top: -4px; } .n-right p { line-height: 155%; } .news-item { padding-top: 10px; padding-bottom: 0px; border-top: 1px solid #ccc; } .news-item p { margin-left: 0; } .n-right h2 a { text-decoration: none; color: #000; } Samsung Galaxy S7 to get 3D Touch-like features, rumor says The next flagship from the Korean company is apparently going to be 'inspired' by Apple once again. Weekly poll results: Microsoft Lumia 950 and 950 XL get all the love

Microsoft apparently knew full well what it was doing, postponing the launch of its latest flagships. The Lumia 950 and 950 XL were announced after months of anticipation and the wait was worth it. And that's not our opinion, it's yours. Understandably, its the absolute top-end Lumia 950 XL that's gotten the most raving feedback. A staggering 88% of votes are in its favor, making for one of the most universally approved smartphones in our poll history. But the smaller Lumia 950 is not without its supporters either. Actually, you could say that the 3% margin in upvotes is about as much as the two specsheets are different. We believe it's the common features that are appealing to the bulk of our readers - Windows 10, Continuum, 20MP camera, wireless charging, the lot, and the chipset and display size hold less importance. The modest Lumia 550 doesn't share all the fan love its big brothers are bathing in, but gets the stamp of approval nonetheless. Three out of five voters gave it the thumbs up, indicating that Microsoft is still looking good in the entry-level market, which it flooded with 4- and 5-series Lumias earlier this...

21.5‑inch iMac with Retina 4K display gets iFixit teardown

Apple recently launched the new 21.5‑inch iMac with Retina 4K display. True to their tradition, iFixit has managed to get its hands on the new machine and put it through their detailed teardown. Unfortunately, even though there are some improved specs over the previous generation model, not much has changed when it comes to the teardown. Apple still makes it absurdly difficult for anyone to get inside the machine and service or replace the parts. Worst of all, the 21.5-inch model does not even have user-replaceable RAM that the 27-inch model has. Then there are other drawbacks, such as the Fusion Drive connector missing from the logic board, which means you can't replace the drive yourself even if you somehow manage to get inside the machine. The glass and the display are also fused together, increasing the cost of replacement. All of this results in the lowest score that iFixit can give a product, and that is 1/10. Really, nothing inside this machine is designed to be replaced or repaired by the user. If you want to change any of the built-in components, the best and only time to do so is while purchasing it from the Apple website. After that you are pretty much stuck with what you...
