Weekly poll results: BlackBerry KEYOne garners strong interest

BlackBerry took a while to find its footing after touchscreen competition displaced its keyboard-based phones, but if our poll is any indication, the KEYOne is a return to form - both hardware keyboard and to a desirable status. Just over half of voters (53%) expressed interest in buying one! Meanwhile, very few (9%) claim that the Priv is better. Sure, it's a higher-end device, but something about it didn't click with consumers. Not so with the KEYOne, most commenters had a positive attitude towards BlackBerry's new phone (even despite its relatively high price). Just over a third of...

Redesigned Skype 8.0 now available for Android

Microsoft's new Skype 8.0 app is now available on the Google Play Store. The app is currently only available on Android. Skype 8.0 features a brand new UI courtesy of a complete rebuild of the app. There are new colors, animations and shapes everywhere and it really doesn't look anything like the old app. The main screen has three tabs, with the main one in the center being where all your chats reside. The one on the left is called Highlights, which is basically a rip-off of Stories feature from Snapchat. Here you can share your activities during your day and all the photos and...

New Alcatel Pixi 5 tablet spotted in FCC certification

A mysterious new Alcatel device recently made its way into the FCC database. Its official designation is the "Alcatel 9024O", but documentation also features a reference to the "PIXI5-8" moniker. We know enough about Pixi devices to safely assume this is either a 7 or 8-inch tablet (the Pixi naming convention isn't known to be particularly descriptive or clear). The cited dimensions of 100mm by 180mm paint a pretty clear "small tablet" picture as well. Speaking of measurements, the FCC file contains a pretty detailed sketch of the alleged "PIXI5-8". It offers a few tips on basic...

Original Samsung Galaxy J7 could be in line for a Nougat update

When it comes to software updates, Samsung has generally been sticking to a two year or a couple of major Android updates cycle. The original Galaxy J7 was released in June 2015, running Android Lollipop and was later updated to 6.0.1 Marshmallow. All things considered and taking into account the budget nature of the handset, nobody really expected another major OTA from Samsung. Hence, it is quite surprising to see the SM-J701M appear in a new Wi-Fi Alliance certification, reportedly running Android Nougat. And in case you were wondering whether the three-year-old Snapdragon 615,...

New Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 13.3 leaks: 7th gen Intel CPU, new GPU and a fingerprint reader

Xiaomi's presence on the trendy ultralight laptop market is still very limited and rather confusing, but undeniably impressive in terms of value. And while the latter should come as no surprise to anybody familiar with the Chinese OEM's work, it is rather odd that the original Mi Notebook Air was unveiled last July and a second generation has been repeatedly teased and leaked ever since, with no actual progress to report. A 4G-capable variant was released in December and now we have what seems to be yet another refresh on our hands. As per the early info, this time around, Xiaomi...
