Top 10 trending phones of week 33

The new Nokia 8 generated much buzz and it debuts on the podium of our Top 10 chart, right ahead of the Nokia 6. With the flagship out, the mid-range model lost a bit of steam and we wouldn't be surprised to see these two further apart next week. Only a couple of weeks old, the Lenovo K8 Note continues to rise and this week it was the runner up, behind another 5.5" phone - the Galaxy J7 Pro. Will the dual camera and competitive price allow the K8 Note to reach the top next week? Possible, unless the Nokia 8 overtakes it. The following three phones on the chart retained their...

Counterclockwise: Nokia genetics and the features it evolved

Nokia is one of the oldest mobile technology companies and has an amazing portfolio of phone-related tech. The networking equipment arm dates back almost to the company's inception, but the phone division was disbanded. A new company, HMD, recently took up the mantle and it just launched its first flagship, the Nokia 8. This brought back a lot of memories, so we decided to put pen to paper, or rather fingers to keyboard and share some of them. We most fondly remember PureView, which debuted with the eponymous Nokia 808 PureView. There's no clear definition of what "PureView" means, though....

Weekly poll results: camera phones get a pass on humps, everything else better be flat

Most people don't care for humpback phones... unless they are camera phones. Last week's poll on the matter revealed a 2:1 preference for flat phones, but the simple yes or no vote doesn't tell the whole story. Looking through the comments reveals a fairly common sentiment - "I don't mind a hump, if it's for a great camera". Google Home can now stream to Bluetooth devices and connect to free Spotify accounts

If you thought Google would sit around and wait for competitors like Spotify, Apple and Amazon to carve up the multimedia market one way or the other, think again. The web giant is constantly improving and restructuring its offers, services and platforms and the intentions and plans are finally starting to shine through big time. Google Home might have been a bit tardy to the new home automation/multimedia hub party kicked off (in a way) by the Amazon Echo, but it is quickly catching up. Besides the company's own Play Music service and Spotify Premium, to name a few, Google Home now...
