Top 10 trending phones of week 34

With so many new announcements this week it's little wonder that there's plenty of movement in our top 10 trending list. Unsurprisingly the Samsung Galaxy Note8 shot to the top of our popularity chart - we'll see if it manages to match the 10-week streak of its Galaxy S8 sibling. The Nokia 6 gained two places to take silver this week, while last week's champion the Galaxy J7 Pro completed the podium. Lenovo K8 Note retained its place in the top 10, although it slipped a couple of spots and is now fourth, while the Samsung Galaxy S8 is exactly where we left it seven days ago - in...

Counterclockwise: milestones in Galaxy Note's history

The Samsung Galaxy Note8 dominated the tech airwaves this week. The flagship seeks to steady the Note ship after a couple of turbulent years. Normally we'd say "look forward, not back", but Counterclockwise is an exception to that rule. A stylus? That's so 2004! The Note series has had an experimental feel to it since the start. The original Galaxy Note was among the first large-screen Androids to be marketed as a phone, not a tablet. And it had a stylus! Both were considered fairly unpopular at the time. Back in 2011 when the Note was unveiled, the market had barely moved away from...

Weekly poll: is the Galaxy Note8 everything you hoped it would be?

The Note launch is usually the highlight of Samsung Mobile's year, but was the Galaxy Note8 everything you hoped it would be? The dual camera is Samsung's first but it is also among the most advanced cameras on the market, the Infinity Display still looks stunning and we know that S Pen fans accept no substitute. However, many are happily using a Galaxy S8+ while others jumped on the resurrected Galaxy Note FE. Did the Note8 do enough over those two to win your affection? Not to mention the upcoming competition - the LG V30 will launch in a week, the iPhone 8 in September, the Huawei Mate...

Weekly poll results: welcome back, Nokia!

It seems that HMD successfully rekindled the passion that Nokia fans had for the brand - our poll showed a 2 to 1 positive response to the Nokia 8. So, it's not unanimous, but not bad for a company that has been on the market for less than a year (the Nokia backing sure helped catapult them). The bezels of the 8 were a point of contention and the Xperia XZ Premium and HTC U11 got caught in the crossfire. The Nokia 6 chipset was brought up also, fans really wanted to see a Snapdragon 600 series chip rather than 400. While the response to the new flagship is mostly positive, Nokia...
