Week 29 in review: Mi Max 3, Nokia X5, nova 3i, Gorilla Glass 6 are all official

It was a big week for phone announcements. Xiaomi took the wraps off the Mi Max 3 after a few weeks of intense teasing and it's pretty exciting - near-7-inch screen and 5,500mAh battery! In other Xiaomi news, the Mi A2 Lite went on sale prematurely. It's still unofficial at this point, but that will change next week. Nokia made the X5 official in China and started the global rollout of the Nokia X6 under the name Nokia 6.1 Plus. Xiaomi will finally start selling its Mi 8 Explorer edition on July 24 but before you get too excited, it's a China-only offer for now. Huawei announced...

Top 10 trending phones of week 29

It was another dramatic week in our Top 10 trending chart with the Oppo Find X retaking the top spot from the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. The third position is occupied by the newly unveiled Huawei nova 3i, which is the first phone to come with the company's new Kirin 710 chipset. Yordan: Wider support trumps speed I'll preface this by saying that one of the main reasons I'm constantly seen with a Huawei device is the Super Charge tech. It is fast and reliable and really boosts the user experience. But it is limited to Huawei phones and this is why it has to go. As someone into tech, I am religiously following everything new that...

Weekend phone talk: Yordan

The first half of 2018 is behind us, and as we rush into summer it's time to reflect on what smartphone manufacturers released and what are we expecting from the second part of the year. The first issue was by Paul; now we hand the keyboard to Yordan. H1 2018 has been unimpressive, but I remain positive. First half recap In the world of leaks, rumors, and announcements there is hardly a new beginning when a calendar page turns. Back in January we already knew Samsung is preparing the Galaxy S9, Xiaomi will keep expanding to new countries, and Huawei will stay on its course...
