Smartphone screens have been growing for years now, but recently they started growing in only one dimension - height. This led to taller and taller aspect ratios that redefined how large a 6" screen is. Here's a comparison: a 6" 18:9 screen is essentially a 5.5" 16:9 screen with an extra row on top (1.5cm or half an inch taller). This is largely because wide phones are uncomfortable to hold. Top 10 trending phones of week 1

The turn of the year brought some significant changes to our top 10 trending phones charting, including a new leader. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro rose two spots to dethrone the Galaxy A8s, as last week's runner up Xiaomi Mi Play is all the way down in fifth. Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) also made the podium as the Huawei nova 4 held onto the fourth spot. Honor 8A is now official under the Honor Play 8A moniker

"All is fair in love and war" and the smartphone arena is currently a cut-throat theatre like few others. Still, we do feel like the resemblance between the recently unveiled Xiaomi Mi Play and the newly unveiled Honor Play 8A is taking things a bit too far. Of course, we can't really say who's copying who, but we did originally expect the phone to drop under the Honor 8A moniker.
