Weekly poll: What's the most exciting event of the next few days?

Between now and the end of February many hotly-anticipated flagships will be unveiled. Thanks to extensive leaks (and some official confirmations), we have a pretty good idea what to expect, so we were wondering which of the upcoming events gets you the most excited. Samsung will start things off by announcing the Galaxy S10 trio on February 20. These three will go on pre-order the next day and can be in your hand in early March. Essentially all specs and prices are known. Samsung will also show off its 5G phone, the Galaxy S10 X, and its foldable phone. Those will be released later in the...

Weekly poll results: the Moto G7 Plus is the favorite in the G7 family

This probably won't come as much of a surprise - of the four new Motorola models, people strongly prefer the Moto G7 Plus. It offers a premium experience at just €300. This includes shooting 4K selfie videos, something that most flagships can't do. The rear 16MP camera boasts OIS and EIS, the lack of a tele/ultra-wide camera isn't a huge loss, judging by the comments. Same with the chipset - Snapdragon 636 is okay. But people weren't too happy about the 3,000mAh battery, despite its 27W fast charging capability. It's true that an Honor Play or Pocophone F1 have higher capacity batteries...

Motorola Moto G7 Power review

Motorola's launch event in Brazil was quite the Carnival. We got not one, not two, but four different Moto G7 devices. We haven't been always keen on this kind of fragmentation, but when done right, the consumers are more than happy to have more choices. So, please buckle up, as today we will take the Moto G7 Power for a ride.

Counterclockwise: counting cameras as single camera phones are on the way out

We're at a turning point - as of last year, over half of new phone models have a dual camera on their backs. The last time something like this happened was in 2003, except then the switchover was from "no camera" to "one camera". If you look closely, you'll see the green sprout that starts in 2017 and stretches to 2018 - this represents the phones with a triple rear camera. We expect the number to grow this year and keep getting bigger and bigger as time goes on. We don't see this trend reversing. Mechanical zoom is unfeasible on current mobile. Also, utility modules - things like...

Apple foldable display patent showcases multiple interesting designs

Foldable display tech is quickly and surely shaping up as the most explosive tech "hot topic" of 2019. Everybody who's anybody and their uncle seems to be working on a concept right now. And while the tech clearly still has its limitations, as evidenced by the first actual, even if obscure, devices we have seen out of the gate, the hype is very much there and growing rapidly. MWC 2019 will surely fuel that even further with players like Samsung, Huawei, LG and Xiaomi expected to touch on the topic in some way and perhaps even show off devices. Meanwhile Cupertino seems to be taking...

The 5G Moto Mod stops by the FCC - US release imminent

Back in August last year Motorola, or Lenovo, depending on you preference, unveiled the Moto Z3 - still its current flagship offer. Along with it at the special Chicago event came the 4G Moto Mod - a somewhat odd result of a new-found 5G hype, combined with an ongoing promise of Modo Mod compatibility and investment in the ecosystem. After that initial wave of viral media coverage for what was essentially, at the time, a shell, with a 2,000 mAh battery pack and space to eventually fit in one of Qualcomm's X50 5G modems, the 5G Moto Mod slipped into obscurity. Until late last month, when...
