Weekly poll: can vivo X60 Pro+'s flagship chipset and camera convince you to buy one?

What’s more important in a new smartphone – the chipset or the camera? The vivo X60 Pro+ answers “both” as it brings the Snapdragon 888 and a fully-loaded quad camera to the market. Which markets? Well, China obviously, but the company has began its expansion into Europe and even became the official smartphone provider for the Euro 2020 and 2024 UEFA championships. India has been a traditional stronghold for vivo as well. All that said, we haven’t heard vivo’s official plans for its new flagship going abroad. But let’s daydream for a bit – if/when the X60 Pro+ becomes available in your...

Weekly poll results: the Galaxy S21 Ultra is the favorite, but popularity of the S21 trio is in question

The results from last week’s poll are exactly what you would expect – the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is easily the fan favorite of the three S21 siblings. It caught some criticism, but it is still the phone to have for many. And most of them don’t want to wait for reviews, so they already pre-ordered the phone. Others holding off until the price drop. And, of course, some will wait for the phone to be tested – our full review is almost complete, in the mean time you can read or watch our hands-on. S Pen support is proving to be a welcome addition, though having to slot it in a...

Flashback: the first gaming phones quickly went from Tetris to downloadable 3D games

Video games have gone through many transformations - from the arcades, to computers at home, to handheld consoles and now phones. Of course, the first phones to play games were a lot more modest than the current RGB-flashing, air-cooled monsters. There's some debate as to which phone was first, but we do know that it came out in 1994. One contender is the Hagenuk MT-2000, made by a Danish company. Yes, a company from Denmark that rivaled Finland's Nokia (both launched their first GSM phones within weeks of each other). An instant classic was chosen for MT-2000's game - Tetris, which had...

Android 12 could finally bring the double tap on the back gesture

Before the stable version of Android 11 was officially released, a neat double tap on the back of the phone gesture has been introduced in the developer preview. Sadly, the feature didn't make the cut. so there was no replacement for Google Pixel's edge squeeze gesture that got axed with the most recent Pixels. However, there's still a chance for this functionality with Android 12. 9to5Google found that the feature codenamed "Columbus" will be re-introduced with Android 12. According to the report, the original feature was scrapped because the system would record accidental taps, but...

Top 10 trending phones of week 3

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra retains its strong grasp on the top spot in our trending chart for the second week in a row with the compact Galaxy S21 and Xiaomi Mi 11 joining it on the podium. However the phones in second and third combined didn't get as much interest as the Ultra. After three premium phones we see a quick change of pace with the entry level Samsung Galaxy A12 taking fourth, while the Poco M3's resurgence saw it shot to fifth. The newly announced Honor View40 (or V40 as its known in its debut market of China) takes sixth, ahead of another brand new phone - the...

OnePlus watch gets certified, launch imminent

OnePlus' first smartwatch is confirmed to be announced at the beginning of this year and for now, we only know that it will adopt a round, classic design. And the most recent leak, if we can call it that, suggests that the device is about to be announced real soon. A listing from the Indian BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) shows that OnePlus' smartwatch has been certified and will come in two variants judging by the model numbers - W501GB and W301GB. We suspect that the two versions correspond to a Wi-Fi only version and an LTE model. Sadly, the listing doesn't reveal anything other...
