Flashback: not so weird car branded phones, part 2 - Lamborghini, Ferrari, Spyker, Porsche

A few episodes back we talked about the Nokia 8800 Aston Martin Edition. But did you know that there was also a Lamborghini edition? Time for another look at car-branded phones. Nokia 8800 Sirocco Lamborghini Edition While the Ferrari version was based on the original 8800, the version for rival Italian supercar maker Lamborghini was crafted out of the followup, the Nokia 8800 Sirocco. Sirocco is the name of a Mediterranean wind that can reach hurricane levels, though this was just a coincidence - the Lamborghini Huracan wouldn't be unveiled for a few more years. Anyway, the...

Welcome to another week's recap. The Huawei P50 series made the news - they'll be arriving at the end of March and will reportedly include three phones. Like the P40 series, the P50 will feature a vanilla model, a P50 Pro and a P50 Pro+. They'll run Kirin 9000E (P50) and Kirin 9000 (the two Pro phones) chipsets, but won't have Google Mobile Services. Weekly poll: is the Samsung Galaxy F62 the big battery phone to have?

A 7,000 mAh battery, 7nm chipset and Android 11 out of the box – what’s not to love about the Samsung Galaxy F62? Samsung’s new India-destined mid-ranger will go on sale tomorrow at noon and we were wondering how many of you would pick one up. Let’s start with the battery as that is the highlight feature – the 7,000 mAh power cell will offer stellar battery life and reasonably fast charge times with the bundled (!) 25W charger. But you can get the same with the Galaxy M51, which costs about the same. The two phones seem to have the same 6.7” Super AMOLED Plus screens (1080p+...

Weekly poll results: 128GB is the new sweet spot for base storage, microSD cards still important

A couple of years ago most people were satisfied with 64-128 GB storage, but requirements have grown since – now most people are looking at 128GB to 256GB for their next phone, according to last week’s poll. The new poll skewed towards higher storage capacities. 128 GB is the sweet spot right now, but it won’t be long before 256GB becomes the preferred option. It already is for some and a not-insignificant part of voters are looking at 512GB. Things are changing pretty quickly – two years ago, people that needed 256GB (or more) were in the minority. Now they are pretty common. What...
