Instagram introduces new tools to filter abusive DM requests

Instagram’s efforts to block hateful or abusive DM requests will soon be taken another step further. In Instagram’s latest blog post, the app outlines how it will further prevent people from even seeing hateful or abusive DMs in the first place. As Instagram explains, most hateful or unwanted messages come from DM requests. These are direct messages from users that have never messaged you before and/or that you may not even follow. Instagram will begin filtering a list of keywords and emojis that was developed in collaboration with leading anti-discrimination and anti-bullying...

OnePlus Watch will get an always-on display, more features

The OnePlus Watch launched last month to not-very-great reviews, and today the company has come out with a plan for future updates that will rectify some of the pain points reviewers were frustrated with. But first, there's a new firmware update out for the watch today. This is version B.40, and it improves GPS performance, as well as the accuracy of tracking walking and running. The heart rate monitoring and notification syncing algorithms have been optimized, and the raise-to-wake function should be better too. Finally, you get notification app icons for the most frequently used apps....

Google Pixel 5a 5G will have the Snapdragon 765G at the helm

The Google Pixel 5a is rumored to get official on June 11, and so far a leak has showed us that it will have a design that's practically indistinguishable from that of the Pixel 4a 5G. Its dimensions make it closer to that phone than to the smaller Pixel 4a too. If you were wondering what sort of horsepower to expect under the hood, well - let's cut right to the chase here. The Pixel 5a 5G will have the Snapdragon 765G chipset at the helm, just like the Pixel 4a 5G and the Pixel 5. That SoC is definitely getting a bit old right now, especially with the Snapdragon 780G being official and...

Redmi K40 Gaming Edition teased with impressive AnTuTu score

Xiaomi is gearing up to launch yet another phone from the Redmi K40 family but this time it's going to be gaming-centric. A handful of teasers in the past have revealed some of the key specs, including a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset. Now yet another teaser gives us a hint of the performance too. In an AnTuTu 9 benchmark test, the device scored an impressive 724,495 points, which is just above the Snapdragon 870 we tested on the OnePlus 9R and the vivo X60 Pro. The latter achieved 720,352 points overall. In addition to the Dimensity 1200 SoC, the gaming-focused K40 will offer a...

The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 4G with a Snapdragon 865 chipset is official

We heard it was happening, and now it's official. Samsung is making the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 the chipset across the entire Galaxy S20 FE range - both 4G and 5G models. The evidence comes from Samsung's Swedish website, which has the Galaxy S20 FE, model number SM-G780G, listed with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage - a model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB is reportedly also coming. Up until now there was a Snapdragon 865-powered Galaxy S20 FE with 5G thanks to the Qualcomm X55 modem and an Exynos 990-powered Galaxy S20 that tops out at 4G and was also cheaper. Now that there will be...

Samsung Galaxy A72 4G in for review

Samsung's Galaxy A line has been a runaway success since it got revamped two years ago. And this year the distance between the premium Galaxy S21+ and the Galaxy A72 is as small as ever. The Galaxy A72 has a high-refresh rate AMOLED screen, stereo speakers, IP68 protection, a quad camera and a big battery - there's an uncompromising package if we ever saw one. We have the Snapdragon 720G-powered Galaxy A72 4G at the office today. It comes with a 25W charger and USB cable. We wish Samsung would bundle a case with its Galaxy A series phones, though, but odds are next year we won't...
