Weekly poll: Nintendo Switch OLED vs. Valve Steam Deck

Last week Nintendo unveiled the OLED Switch, this week Valve unveiled the Steam Deck. Will you be picking up one of those or do you think that Android phones are the way to game on the go? Before we point you to the virtual voting booth, let’s have a closer look at the competitors. The Nintendo Switch OLED Model will be available in October starting at $350, this is with 64 GB storage (the original had 32 GB). It boasts a 7” OLED display, an upgrade over the smaller 6.2” LCD of the original (the Lite model has an even smaller display at 5.5”). It still has 1,280 x 720 px resolution,...

Moto G50 in for review

Motorola’s Moto G50 aims to solidify the maker’s midrange 5G portfolio and it will be put to the test since we managed to receive a unit for review here at HQ. So what exactly do you get here and should you consider a Moto as your first 5G phone? The packaging here is your typical Moto affair with a clear gel case, USB-C cable and a 10W power adapter present in the box. Our review unit sports the uninspiring Steel Gray colorway which is quite reflective and gives out shades of blue under certain lighting. The phone feels substantial in hand weighing at 192 grams. The plastic frame and...

Weekly poll results: the Sony Xperia 1 III has devoted fans, a lower price tag would bring in more

Months after it was originally unveiled, the Sony Xperia 1 III is finally available for pre-order. It should start shipping on August 19 in the US and the UK, in late August in mainland Europe (e.g. Amazon Germany has set the launch date as August 25). And some people have their eye on the Mark 3 flagship, but even more have their eye on its price tag. Last week’s poll shows that about a fifth of voters are interested in pre-ordering the 1 III. They will receive a free pair of WH-1000XM3 (Europe) or WF-1000XM (US) noise canceling headphones, plus some additional (region-dependent)...

TEST: Is the Nokia 808 PureView's camera any good in 2021?

Introduction We recently took a short nostalgia trip with the Nokia 808 PureView after we stumbled upon a still fully functional unit almost by accident (not really, we specifically went out looking for one). We covered it in a video, going over some of the firsts and bests it did in 2012 - here it is, if you missed it. Having the phone in our hands, and well aware of the reputation it has in the comments section of most photography-centric smartphone reviews here, we figured a brief shootout was in order - think of it as 'The 808 PureView versus The Year 2021 Cameraphones'. Since we...

Vanilla Huawei P50 to be announced on July 29

A report coming straight from Huawei, at least that's what the source article claims, the vanilla Huawei P50 will be announced on July 29 in China featuring the world's first 4G version of the Snapdragon 888 chipset. We've explained in a previous article why Huawei will be releasing a 4G Huawei P50 and this rumor seems to be in line with the previous one citing August as a month of release too. Unfortunately, there's no word on the Huawei P50 Pro but going by earlier info, it will launch with Huawei's Kirin 9000 at first and then move onto the Snapdragon 888 sometime around December...
