Moto X (2014) Pure Edition Android 5.1 rollout halted

Just a couple of weeks after it started rolling out, the Android 5.1 update for the second-generation Moto X Pure Edition has been halted due to a bug. The information was revealed by David Schuster, Senior Director of Software Product Management at Motorola. "We ended up detecting an issue that we want to correct prior to moving to full deployment," he said in a Google+ post. "We already have identified the fix and are in the process of testing internally this coming week and expect to submit to carrier labs for a quick approval the following week." There was, however, no word on when the company will resume the roll out. Source |...

AT&T LG G4 receiving mysterious OTA update

The LG G4 on AT&T has started receiving a mysterious OTA update that auto-installs without permission, according to reports on Reddit and Twitter. Some users complained that they were in the middle of a call when the update happened, forcing their device to reboot without any prompt or warning. While initially it wasn't clear who (AT&T or LG) pushed the update, the carrier later confirmed that they are the source. There is, however, no official word on what changes the update brings along, although it is being claimed that it fixes a bug that prevents the G4 from connecting to a 5GHz Wi-Fi network. Xiaomi Redmi 2 and Redmi 2A reach 13 million sales

Xiaomi has managed to sell more than 13 million units of its Redmi 2 and Redmi 2A smartphones in around five months, it's been revealed today. The news comes straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak. The information was made public by Lin Bin, the company's President, on the Chinese microblogging network Weibo, and was then promptly reshared by CEO Lei Jun. The Redmi 2 was unveiled this January as the successor to the original (and also highly successful) Redmi or Hongmi smartphone and its 1S reinterpretation. The Redmi 2A (pictured above) is Xiaomi's cheapest smartphone ever, now selling for as low as $80 in the Chinese market. It shares its design with the Redmi 2 but comes with a different chipset which we assume is cheaper to procure. Just on the day that new pricing went official, Xiaomi reportedly sold 300,000 units. The Redmi 2 devices aren't the only ones made by Xiaomi to ever pass 10 million sales. In fact, they join the Mi 2, Mi 3, Mi 4, original Redmi, and the Redmi Note in this select club. Xiaomi's sales are still severely limited by its very restricted geographical footprint, yet the company seems intent on expanding slowly and cautiously to new markets. Source (in Chinese) |...
