Chrome Browser will start blocking ads on February 15

Google announced an initiative to begin blocking ads with its Chrome browser back in June. This announcement entailed that the usage of ad blocker extensions on Chomre has been on the rise and continues to do so. Since Google is a company that makes the majority of its money on advertising, it wants to make sure that web surfers can have a pleasant, unobtrusive experience without overly annoying ads. Google will begin to block all ads from websites seen with the Chrome browser (including its own ads) starting on February 15, but only on one condition: the website doesn't pass Google's...

Google Hangouts now optimized for iPhone X

With the launch of Allo, some folks were reluctant to switch from Hangouts due to a number of reasons. If you are one of those people who are still using Hangouts on an iPhone X, you'll be glad to know that the app has been updated to support the iPhone X's strangely shaped display. The 21.0.0 version of Hangouts bring optimization for Apple's display and will no longer show you black bars in the app. The app will now take full advantage of the display and correctly flow up either side of the device's notch in the display. Much like how the iPhone 5 brought a wider aspect ratio,...

Nokia 9 shows its bezel-starved face in leaked render

The upcoming Nokia 9 flagship smartphone has been certified by the FCC recently, which resulted in a nice list of its specs being outed earlier today. Those details are all fine and dandy, but what if you want to know what the handset is going to look like? A helpful leak from Chinese social network Weibo can now assist you in that endeavor. This is apparently the Nokia 9, from the front. The obvious thing to note here is the trimming of the bezels, a sign that HMD Global is finally ready to embrace the most important trend of this year - though, ironically, the Nokia 9 will...

Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) hands-on review

Wait what?! So the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) and A8+ (2018) are here to replace the Galaxy A5 (2017) and A7 (2015)? That sure makes perfect sense. Although, from a more serious perspective, what better way to show continuity with the acting flagship Galaxy S8 line? And since one is small, the other is larger, the latter gets a 'plus', right? Things are starting to sound a bit better already.

Upgraded AirPods for 2018

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo today issued a pair of notes to investors covering the availability of AirPods and the possibility for a revision to the hardware in the second half of 2018. Since their launch in 2016 Apple struggled to keep up with demand for AirPods. Even so, Kuo estimates that AirPod shipments will experience 100 percent growth and reach 28 million units in 2018. Kuo didn't offer up any details regarding the design or feature set for the revised AirPods other than that they will include a "smaller quartz component". Kuo also stated they could have a higher average...

Case renders confirm only the Samsung Galaxy S9+ will have a dual camera

Olixar and MobileFun have a history of leaking Samsung's designs and a track record of being right. So here are Olixar's renders of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ - wearing cases, but the "ultra thin, 100% clear" case hardly covers up anything. The division between the S9 and S9+ is interesting - only the Plus model gets a dual camera. That's a departure from the S7 and S8 generations that mostly differed in the size of their screens and battery. Samsung Galaxy S9 • Samsung Galaxy S9+ (images by Olixar) This confirms the rumor we heard just yesterday and suggests Samsung wants a...
