Vodafone UK switches on 5G network, announces unlimited plans

As promised, Vodafone UK has turned on its 5G network today, which is available in seven cities for starters: London, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Cardiff, and Bristol. To use the brand new airwaves, you'll need a compatible device, and Vodafone is offering the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G and the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G at the moment, along with the 5G GigaCube router by Huawei if you don't desire a 5G-capable smartphone. The router starts at £30. You can buy the phones already, but they're currently being offered with Vodafone's old plans, that are due to be replaced on July 10. Let's...

Video shows how the Samsung Galaxy A80 camera lifts and flips with just one motor

There are pop-up cameras and flip-up cameras and then there's the Samsung Galaxy A80, which performs both motions. How though? Maybe this video can help shed some light: The two motions are apparently driven by just one motor, which first pushes the slider up and then continues pushing until the cameras are fliped around by the mechanism. The Weibo blogger who posted the video has apparently worked up full disassembly schematics for the phone, which should further clear up how the mechanism works. But from the looks of it, it is not much more complicated than a regular...

iOS 13 to bring Attention Correction feature to FaceTime

Have you ever felt like the person you are video calling is constantly looking away when talking to you? Well, iOS 13 aims to fix that with the new Attention Correction filter, which has made its way to the beta release. Maybe it's not right to call it a filter but it does artificially correct your eyes in real-time and it looks like you are looking straight to the camera instead of the screen. Screenshots from FaceTime As you can see from the photos, it's really hard to notice any artificial correction - it looks a lot like the real deal. The feature is available on iOS 13...

Asus ROG Phone 2 will support 30W charging

The Asus ROG Phone 2 will come with a 30W charger, according to a certification by the 3C. That's the same power rating as the original ROG Phone, so there's not going to be an upgrade in this department. There seem to be two versions - I001DA and I001DB. The "B" model supports charging at 5-10V and 3A, which works out to 30W maximum. The "A" tops out at 9V at 2A = 18W, same as the Zenfone 6. The model number of the ROG Phone 2, I001D, also cropped up in FCC documents and in a certificate from the Wi-Fi Alliance. The Asus ROG Phone 2 will sport a 120Hz display and Tencent,...

Another Samsung Galaxy A30e hits up Geekbench

Samsung decided to follow the footsteps of its competitors and started blasting devices left and right to cover all available markets. This year's Galaxy A series has no less than 10 new entries, and it looks like another one is coming. A phone with the model number SM-A307FN popped up on Geekbench, yielding pretty much the same results as the Galaxy A30 we've tested - 1,319 for a single-core and 4,116 for multiple cores. The standard Galaxy A30 was released with a 6.4" screen and Exynos 7904 chipset. One of the directions Samsung could go is a Galaxy A30e with a smaller screen and...
