The unique display of the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha was made by Visionox

The unique screen of the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha, which wraps around nearly the entire phone, is being produced by Visionox. CEO Lei Jun revealed that 1,000 engineers have spent the last two years working on the Alpha, an investment that cost the company CNY 500 million ($70 million). This isn't the first collaboration between the two companies - Visionox provided the flexible screen used in Xiaomi's foldable phone prototype. That phone had a dual fold design with the left and right third of the phone folding backwards, a more dynamic version of the Alpha design. Xiaomi even sent out...

Samsung is reportedly working on a more affordable Galaxy Fold for global release

It was quite an ordeal, but the Samsung Galaxy Fold is finally available in select regions, in limited quantities and at a high price to boot (it's been on sale in South Korea since early September, it's coming to the US later this week and soon in the UK). Samsung is reportedly working on a second Galaxy Fold model that will be available globally and will be more affordable. That phone - bearing a model number SM-F700F - will come with half the built-in storage (256GB) and may feature other cost-saving measures like cutting back on the RAM (from 12GB). However, it's not clear what price...

vivo V17 Pro in for review

The vivo V lineup has come a long way - it has become the company's mid-range trend-setter. Something like Samsung Galaxy A-series, vivo is often implementing new tech and likes to go wild with experimental features. The new vivo V17 Pro, however, feels more mature in a way. The pop-up mechanism has been refined and it's also bigger to accommodate two cameras, the under-display fingerprint reader has been improved and a fourth camera has been introduced as well - telephoto capable of 2x optical zoom. That makes for a camera setup most flagships would be proud of, let alone...

Last week OnePlus released the stable build of Android 10 for OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro, and it seems the company will soon release the latest version of Android for its 2018 smartphones - OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. OnePlus has announced the rollout of OxygenOS 9.0.9 and 9.0.17 for the OnePlus 6 and 6T, respectively, which will prepare the two smartphones for the major update. OnePlus doesn't explicitly say if "later versions" mean Android version, but the company rolled out Open Beta updates for the 6 and 6T earlier this month to prepare them for "major upcoming updates", which is reason...
