Canon announces EOS 80D DSLR

The EOS 80D is the Canon's newest mid-range DSLR, and successor to the previous 70D. It seems the company is finally listening to feedback, as the 80D features both, still and video related enhancements. Canon EOS 80D The 80D has a new 24.2 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor. Combined with the new DIGIC 6 processor, it is capable of an ISO range of 100-12800 (expandable to 25600) and a burst rate of 7 fps. The autofocus system has been overhauled completely, featuring 45-point all cross-type system. Improved low light performance means the system can work all the way down to EV-3 at the center point so you can even focus in the dark. The AI Servo AF II system has been improved with a 7560-pixel RGB+IR metering sensor for better tracking of moving subjects. The viewfinder has been enhanced to support the larger AF spread and now offers approximately 100% viewfinder coverage. Now coming to the video part, the 80D can now record videos in up to 1080p60 in MP4 format in either ALL-I or IPB compression with optional embedded time code. The camera also features a headphone jack, a microphone jack, and a built-in stereo microphone with manual audio level adjustment. Other than that, the 80D has the usual bells and whistles you expect from a camera in this price range, including a fully articulated 3-inch, 1.04M dot touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, NFC, and GPS. Canon also announced a new EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens with a Nano USM focusing motor that combines the speed of Canon's USM lenses with the silence of STM lenses. There is also a new Power Zoom Adapter PZ-E1, which lets you electronically control the zoom on lenses such as the new EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM in smooth steps, which is perfect for video use. It can also be controlled remotely using the Canon Camera Connect app. Canon also announced a new DM-E1 directional stereo microphone. The EOS 80D is priced at $1,199.00 for the body only and $1,799 with EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens. The lens alone will set you back by $599.99.
