LG G Watch R finally has Wi-Fi support with latest Android Wear update

A few months ago an Android Wear update brought with it support for Wi-Fi connections made directly from your smartwatch. However, not all Android Wear devices with hardware support for Wi-Fi got this feature enabled back then. There was one big omission: LG's G Watch R. It does sport the required chip, but it hasn't so far been put to use. Well, thankfully that all changes with the next iteration of the OS, which Google has just announced earlier. This is going to roll out over the next few weeks to all Android Wear watches. When it lands on the G Watch R it will come with more than just interactive watch faces and Google Translate built-in. That's right, Wi-Fi support will finally be enabled in LG's first round smartwatch. This means you'll be able to leave your phone at home when you go somewhere with Wi-Fi, and your wearable will still show you notifications and whatnot from that handset - provided it's connected to the Internet...
