Oculus will offer PC bundles for the Rift, starting at $1,499

There's no going around it, for most enthusiastic fans, the production version of the Oculus Rift came with one major disappointment - the $599 price tag. And sadly, even if you decide to fork up the money, there is also the matter of specs requirements for your rig and primarily having a beastly GTX 900 series GPU, which isn't exactly free either. If you really have your heart set on the VR headset, as promised, Oculus has come up with a way to at least slightly dampen the blow in the worst case scenario where you have to pick up a new system as well. The answer is a bundle featuring an "Oculus-ready" PC, starting at $1,499. For that you get the complete Oculus Rift package, which includes the headset, a sensor, a remote, an Xbox One controller and two games - EVE: Valkyrie and Lucky's Tale. And the particular deal also buys you a new ASUS G11CD-B11 desktop with an Intel Core i5 and 4GB GTX 970 GPU - capable of handling the massive rendering loads of VR. Of course, there are other bundles, some crossing the $3,000 mark with an Alienware PC. There are also Dell builds available. Most of the packages seem to offer around $50 off the Oculus itself and about $100 or so off the PC. Pre-orders are set to start on February 16 at 8:00 PST and the deals can be picked up at Best Buy, Amazon and the Microsoft store. Source |...
