Galaxy S7 and S7 edge water resistance confirmed by import listing

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are now less than two weeks away from an official unveiling (once again, February 21), and by now you may have gotten tired of the daily leaks. This latest one is more important than most though, as it gives credibility to the rumored water resistance of the two smartphones. India's customs database Zauba lists spare parts for the Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F), and while the warranty void seals aren't overly exciting, the waterproof mic and sim tray sort of are. It's unclear what the HRM and Octa components stand for, but it's all about the keyword "waterproof" here. And with quantities in the thousands, it's reasonably certain we're talking mass produced final components. Samsung went back and forth with the waterproofing and after having IP67 certification on the Galaxy S5, chose to omit it for the current S6 generation. That only left Sony as the major manufacturer to offer waterproof smartphones, though the Japanese company subsequently revised its policy on actual submersion. We'll wait and see what exactly Smasung will let you do with the Galaxy S7 under water, and under warranty, that is. Source 1 2 |...
