Shoemaker ASICS acquires Runkeeper app

ASICS, a popular Japanese sportwear maker, has bought the Runkeeper fitness-tracking app. It's hardly a surprise as Adidas kicked the acquisition season by getting Runtastic app. According to Runkeeper's track data, ASICS is the most popular shoe brand within its user database and this maybe one of the reasons for the move. Runkeeper's CEO is also keen on this kind of joint operations as it will provide for "a deeper, more trusted relationship with consumers". The companies are keeping mum on the value of this acquisition, but they both promise Runkeeper will suffer no significant changes or interruptions and will continue to work as it is. Source |...
