Xiaomi Redmi 1S gets an update addressing RAM and heat issues

Xiaomi has pushed an over-the-air update for the Redmi 1S. The latest firmware version brings MIUI 5 v4.5 and brings a fix to several performance-related issues. One of the key issues that users report fixed is the occasional overheating of the device. With the new update the RAM handling is also improved - background apps are now given a shorter lease of life so they don't clog up your system. The update weighs in at 514.4MB and should already be waiting for you to download it. Xiaomi held several big sales campaigns for the Redmi 1S in India selling over 100,000 phones in seconds. The smartphone is offered for just $98 (INR 5,999), which considered its specifications is a spectacular price. evleaks outs an official Motorola Nexus 6 press photo

Famous leak-agent @evleaks is officially retired, but in a sudden surge of nostalgia brought us a new leak. And not just any leak, as now we have the first official photo of the upcoming Nexus 6. The photo shows the Nexus 6 front panel and its frame which seems to be made of metal. There are two visible inlays that are required on metal panels for the antennas to work - those wouldn't be needed if the frame was all plastic. Moreover, we get to see the Android L homescreen in action as well as the new iconography style that Google is going for. The Google Nexus 6 is made by Motorola and reportedly packs a 5.9" QHD display, which makes it the first Nexus phablet. It's good to see then, that the unlock button and volume rocker are placed conveniently towards the center of the right side. Earlier today, an upcoming Google video ad of the Nexus 6 and Android L leaked, which in addition to this press photo suggest that the launch of the two is imminent. The rest of the rumored Nexus 6 specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset with a 2.65GHz quad-core Krait 450 CPU and 3GB of RAM. At the back, there's a 13MP camera with OIS standing between the two LEDs of the...

Dual-SIM Nokia RM-1090 with 5" AMOLED gets FCC clearance

A new Lumia device has been spotted in the wild and at the FCC. The Nokia RM-1090/RM-1091 is a dual-SIM Windows Phone device the size of the Lumia 830. According to the FCC reports in measures 139.9 x 71.1mm. AdDuplex spotted the unofficial device in its logs and reports that the screen has qHD resolution (540 x 960). That would be a first for the Lumia line as current devices have (F)WVGA, 720p/WXGA or 1080p. AdDuplex reports most hits came from China and Taiwan, though that's not necessarily the target market, it could be just where the testing takes place. The Lumia handset has GSM and 3G with HSPA connectivity (no LTE, at least on the dual-SIM), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE, all of which comes together for a mid-range device. Source 1 • Source 2 |...

Lenovo Sisley examined by TENAA, official specs revealed

The Lenovo Sisley is, let's say, an homage to the iPhone 6 with a nearly identical design. It even has the same thickness - 6.9mm - though as we pointed out yesterday the camera doesn't protrude. There were some rumored specs to go with yesterday's photos but today TENAA's certification leaves little to the imagination. The Sisley measures 146 x 71.7 x 6.9mm and weighs 130g. It's actually taller and wider than the iPhone 6 but also has a 5" AMOLED display with 720p resolution to show for it. Lenovo Sisley (photos by TENAA) The specs are not high end, but the phone does run Android 4.4.4 KitKat on a quad-core 1.2GHz processor with 1GB RAM (probably a MediaTek chipset). There's 16GB of built-in storage and a microSD card slot for up to 32GB cards (that may be inaccurate, it sounds too low). The camera on the Lenovo Sisley is listed as 720p capable but it's not clear if that's the front or back camera. There's no still resolution in the TENAA tables either, but according to what we heard yesterday there should be a 13MP main camera and an 8MP selfie snapper. Source (in Chinese) |...
