Less than a month after Apple's Chinese App store was found to be infected with XcodeGhost, security researchers have discovered a new malware that they claim targets both jailbroken and non-jailbroken iOS devices. Dubbed YiSpecter, the malware is said to affect iOS users in China as well as Taiwan. "It spreads via unusual means, including the hijacking of traffic from nationwide ISPs, an SNS worm on Windows, and an offline app installation and community promotion," revealed researchers at US-based cybersecurity firm Palo Alto Network. The YiSpecter malware is capable of downloading, installing, and launching arbitrary iOS apps - it can also replace existing apps on your device with those it downloads. In addition, it is also capable of changing Safari's default settings, and displaying full screen advertisements whenever you execute a normal app. The malware, which is said to be out in the wild for the past 10 months, has already been reported to Apple, which says that "they are investigating."
