Microsoft ditches Bing in favour of Baidu in China

Microsoft has entered into a partnership with China's largest online search company Baidu that will see the latter's search engine Baidu.com becoming the default homepage and search for the software giant's Edge browser in Windows 10. "Today, we're excited to announce another partnership with a leader in China - Baidu," said Yusuf Mehdi, Windows and devices vice president, in a blog post. "With over 600 million active users, Baidu is one of the most frequently used Internet gateways in China." The partnership will also make it easy for Baidu customers to upgrade to Windows 10 via the Chinese company's new Windows 10 Express distribution channel. In addition, Baidu will also deliver Universal Windows Applications for Search, Video, Cloud and Maps for the latest Windows OS, Mehdi noted in the blog post. It's worth mentioning that Microsoft is already in partnership with some of the well known Chinese firms, including social networking and gaming company Tencent, internet security company Qihoo 360, Lenovo, and Xiaomi.
