Google has just announced the latest update to the Android Wear platform. The new software is going to be rolled out to all smartwatches running Android Wear. It's expected to reach all the devices within the next few weeks. Here's what to expect when that update notification finally hits your watch. The new version of Android Wear brings with it support for built-in speakers for wearables (and the Huawei Watch already has one, for example, along with the 49mm Asus ZenWatch 2). This means you'll be able to take and make calls from your watch. It's also possible to listen to audio or video messages through certain apps. New gestures have been incorporated into this release too. You can expand a card, bring up your apps, or return to your watch face with a push, lift, or shake. These gestures arrive in addition to the already available ones that let you scroll up and down your card stream by simply flicking your wrist. Finally, support for sending messages with your voice has been expanded to include popular third party apps. So with this update you're able to say something like "OK Google, send a WhatsApp message to George: I'll be right there".
